The Caribbean Surfing Capital is Rincon Bay Beach

Rincon Bay hosted a World Surfing Championship Competition in 1968 and has since come to be known as "The Surfing Capital of the Caribbean". A number of international surfers have traveled to Puerto Rico just to challenge the fast and furious waves of Rincon. In fact, so many of these foreigners have settled in the nearby village that it has developed an expatriate subculture.

Rincon beach actually consists of six beaches which are grouped together along Añasco Bay. The beaches feature aspects of both the rough Atlantic and gentle Caribbean, so surfers are able to enjoy the best of both worlds. The main beach is very popular amongst families who enjoy all the amenities this beach has to offer, such as ample parking, change and rest rooms, and an abundance of food stalls to satisfy their appetites.

Rincon Beach is the perfect beach for almost anything and visitors enjoy activities such as sun tanning, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding. It even provides the perfect location for collecting seashells and sea glass. Rincon Bay is also one of the main places in Puerto Rico where humpback whales migrate to in the winter, so many people gather here every year to enjoy some superb offshore whale watching.

Whether you are into some extreme water sports, sun tanning, shell collecting and whale watching or you just want to watch the glorious tropical sunset, Rincon has it all. Rincon offers enough amenities and surprises to satisfy the most demanding beach connoisseur.
