Tourist Complex Development

It is a town that is synonymous with flair, style, tourism and riches; the location where the Rockerfellers left their mark on Puerto Rico in the 1900s. The Dorado Beach Hotel and Club, now the Hyatt Hacienda Del Mar, was constructed by Laurance Rockerfeller on land the family purchased. As the years progressed, Dorado retained its capability to draw thousands of visitors to its shores, and now it will once again undergo a new transformation with the construction of the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Tourist Complex.

The complex project has the entire city buzzing with excitement, as it will also bring sites to life that have been dormant for a few years, such as the historical Dorado Beach Hotel, established in 1958, where a new luxury hotel establishment will be constructed. Many institutions, both local and international, have given the project their support, and loans from major financial establishments have enabled the $2.1 billion project to get underway. The actual construction process of the project will only commence in 2012, giving developers and designers enough time to plan the complex in the finest detail.

The first phase of the project will consist of erecting the primary hotel, with another being added in the second phase. The infrastructure designed for the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Tourist Complex will also allow for residential buildings to be constructed and a variety of facilities and attractions. The primary hotel will be the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Dorado Beach Resort and Spa, and it will be the very first six-star establishment in Puerto Rico. Most tourist destinations have been struggling during the world economic crisis, but it is hoped that as the recession begins to ease the pressure felt by all, the new tourist complex will encourage more tourists to visit the island.

Another positive aspect in regard to the Ritz-Carlton Reserve Tourist Complex is the fact that it will be creating job opportunities for approximately a thousand people, and once the complex has been opened, permanent positions will be available for locals. The money invested in the new tourist development will not only bring renewed hope to Dorado, but to the entire island of Puerto Rico.
