Karla Monroig: Model, Actress and Television Host

Puerto Rican model, actress and television host Karla Monroig has been chosen to host the second season of the immensely popular reality television singing competition Idol Kids Puerto Rico, scheduled to start in July 2013. As the Puerto Rican franchise of the British show Pop Idol, Idol Kids Puerto Rico has a panel of judges who have the difficult task of selecting the most promising and talented young singers between the ages of 6 and 12 years old in the audition stage of the competition. Telephone voting by viewers plays a role in choosing the finals. The show includes the stories behind the lives of contestants, and as with any live show, presentation is paramount, and the host needs to keep things moving in a way that keeps the audience captivated. In an interview in the Latin American Herald Tribune, Karlo Monroig noted that she is very happy to have been given the chance to host Idol Kids Puerto Rico and to contribute to discovering the stars of the future, describing the show as "fun and positive".

Born in Guayama on March 5, 1979, Karla Monroig studied at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón where she earned a college degree in Communications. At 14 years of age, Karla was chosen as first runner up of the Miss Borinquen Teenage pageant and the following year she started taking modeling lessons, going on to compete in the Cara de Imagen contest, where she was chosen as first runner up again. The competition brought her to the attention of the public and she appeared on the covers of a number of Puerto Rican magazines, including Buena Vida, Agenda de Novias, and Imagen. She has also written a number of articles about beauty and modeling.

From the year 2000 on Karla Monroig's career became more diversified as she did some entertainment-related news reporting, and participated in television talk shows, as well as hosting the reality show Buscados with iconic Puerto Rican comedian, producer and game show host Hector Marcano. As the host of television current affairs show E-ritmo TV, Karla interviewed celebrities such as Puerto Rican pop singer Chayanne and Spanish musician Alejandro Sanz. She also co-hosted the Mexican variety show Caliente for a while and has appeared in a number of television movies and feature films.

Certainly, fans have much to look forward to when Karla Monroig takes to the stage as the host of the very popular Idol Kids Puerto Rico. Judges for the show are Kany Garcia, Ana Isabelle and Edgardo Diaz.

Talented Puerto Rican Composer Juan Morel Campos

Although the music of Puerto Rico has been influenced by its African and European heritage, it has developed its own distinctive vibrant sound over the generations. There have been a number of notable Puerto Rican musicians and composers who have made significant contributions to the various styles of music enjoyed by the people of the enchanted island.
