Surf's Up in Puerto Rico

Surfing enthusiasts know that where Kelly Slater and Taylor Knox meet, the best surfing in the world is about to take place. They have become synonymous with world-class surfing and have taken on the waves of many destinations around the world. This year these two surfing greats, along with many more international sensations, will be heading to Puerto Rico, which has been chosen as the host of the 2010 Rip Curl Pro Search. It is guaranteed to be an event filled with entertainment, fun and unmatched surfing performances.

The entire surfing community has been waiting anxiously for the location of the 2010 Rip Curl Pro Search to be announced. When confirmation finally came through that it was to be Puerto Rico, everyone responded with joy and positive comments in regard to the venue and its waves. Kelly Slater, the nine-time ASP World Champion, expressed his excitement: “I have a lot of great memories of Puerto Rico - all the first wins I had internationally as a kid were there and I surfed a lot of contests there when I was younger. I'm looking forward to getting there.” A surfing tour veteran, Taylor Knox is also impressed with the location, looking forward to new adventures on the ocean’s waves. Both Slater and Knox, together with fifty other well known names in the surfing industry, will be participating in this breathtaking international championship.

The 2010 Rip Curl Pro Search will be held from 30 October to 10 November, and it is anticipated that the championship will attract thousands of visitors to the country during this time. Over and above offering great waves, Puerto Rico is also a favorite vacation destination for many surfing professionals. It has also been announced, that Puerto Rico, New Zealand and Taranaki will be hosting the 2010 ASP Women’s World Tour, where seventeen of the best female surfers in the world will be seen in action. The Rip Curl Pro Search is one of the most anticipated events on the surfing calendar, and with so much success in previous years, it is believed that the new venue will only enhance the magnificence of the championship.
