The ‘Sugar Cane Festival’, or as its commonly known ‘Caña de Azúcar’, is a tradition that has been around for a long time, celebrating the harvesting of the sugar cane which plays an important role in Puerto Rico’s economic stability.

Description:

This wonderfully old festival highlights the importance of planting of sugar cane as well as the variety of uses it has. The Sugar Cane Festival is also a time of reflection on the local people who so faithfully continue this tradition as well as the traditional methods used to grow and harvest sugar cane.


So if you’re visiting this wonderful island make sure you attend this special event and join in the colorful parades, listening to traditional music and perusing the local arts. Don’t to forget the chance to experience the regional foods of the area.
