Celebrated as an official Puerto Rican holiday, Commonwealth Constitution Day gives citizens of this charming island the opportunity to remember the significance of the Constitution governing the Commonwealth nation.
The Constitution of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is composed of nine articles setting out the structure of the government, along with detailing the functions of some of its governmental institutions. Following all the legalities involved with making the Constitution lawful, on July 25, 1952, Governor Luis Munoz Marin, had the honor of proclaiming it to be in effect.
