Conflict Resolution for problems when moderator is not around
We are experiencing a lot of technical difficulties with the edit button and having duplicate copies of posts being posted without the poster's intent.
It makes it difficult to post for us. Hopefully the issue will be resolved soon.
I wanted to let you know, I check as much as I can on the postings here. But I can't read everything. That is not realistic. If a poster is getting personal with you and you are a long time poster and know the pattern of the poster that is getting personal, profane, offensive, harrassing and or the poster just doesn't know how to address people with respect and with civility and no moderator is available at the time you may use the ignore button and all the comments that that particular poster makes will be eliminated from your thread. I will later go and check and edit out the offenses if I am available. You also may private message me and you can link the thread in question. You can also post the complaint in the moderator forum and or send an email to administration.
The way it is explained to me is this way. First, a pattern must be established if the poster has a habit that is against forum rules, report it someway and save the link to the thread.
If profanity is used that is against forum rules. But if you know someone is very provoking and attacks you personally but doesn't use profanity---don't respond to the personal attack. Ignore and go on. Document the personal attack and then turn in the link for moderators or admin to deal with.
Hate speech, racist slurs, sexist commentary with intent to demean and pornographic material is strictly prohibited.
Ignoring and using the ignore button is a protection for those who do not want to deal with any of the above problems in discussion fora.
Trolls who constantly post non-sense and spammers who spam many fora with irrelevant and repetitive articles or postings will also be disciplined. Scams in which money is asked for or credit card information should be reported to admin as soon as possible.
If you get emails or private messages requesting you to send money - don't respond. Instead report any such approaches to a moderator or to the administrator.
I am also researching ways to avoid the ads for posters who don't want to be bothered with reading them. To give them an alternative. If you have an efficient method of eliminating them please let me know as soon as possible.
Happy posting!!
