Borders
We all know about the plight of millions of Mexicans who cross the border ilegally in serach of work. We've all seen the 'redadas" where multitudes of brown faced ilegal immigrants are herded away. I wonder why we never see a white Mexican face in the mix. After all, if we were to guage Mexico's society by their "novelas" one would assume that 90% of people there are white and RICH$$$ Obviously, we know this not to be the case.
One thought has crossed my mind regarding the stereotypical ilegal immigrant. What would our paradigm of an ilegal immigrant be if Argentina was located across the Texas border? Would the USA still want to errect fences to keep out eurocentric looking people? Would Tom Tancredo still pound the podium as loud as he did when a few isolated souls listened to him? Would our policies be a bit more "forgiving" and "understanding" of the plight of those "poor ole boys just looking for a way to feed their families?"
Just wondering.
