Mike the question we have to ask ourselves is the following: Are you less of an American if you are born in Chile or Brazil? The answer is no.
There is this notion that America is composed of the US alone. that we have to change. Before you were a US citizen, you were already an American, since las Antillas form part of the American Continent.
As a matter of fact we are the true Americans, our culture and traditions were established long before te USA were formed.
Now that we cleared that out, your question would read the following way: Is it wrong to feel like a Estadounidense, eventhough you want Independence for Puerto Rico?
Now that's a totally different question, don't you think.
