Sure it would be pretty if each and every P.R. stayed and accepted P.R. citizenship. But I am certain that would not happen.
Just listen to the estadistas and their fellow travellers on this forum, and you got to know that family or not, all will not stay in Puerto Rico.
As for it making it easier for the U.S. to make a statehood out of those that remained. NO WAY! since all that remained would most probably support the New Independent Republic of Puerto Rico. If what you had in mind would be another invasion of P.R., I don't think that would happen, because the United Nations supports Independence for Puerto Rico, and any imperialist adventure like another invasion would meet with the condemnation of the Security Council of the U.N., which has already ordered the U.S. to put an end to its imperialism and decolonize Puerto Rico forthwith.
