Lorelei, hiragana is used for native Japanese words whereas katakana is used for words borrowed from other languages (miruku---> milk) or foreign names (Sumisu----> Smith).
and Yautia, Vietnamese doesn't use characters like Japanese and Chinese; it uses the roman alphabet...cool convo though
