There is only one Spanish, different countries have different words for different things, but it is practically the same. If you learn spanish in Puerto Rico, you can speak spanish anywhere you go. You just have to familiarize yourself with the native customs and courtesies, and the native flavor. In spanish, all the letters sound as they are written, and if you can roll your tongue, the easier it becomes. It's just like English, (Queens English, Brittish, Scottish, Irish, Australian, etc.). It all depends where you are. Puerto Rico has its own way in many words, i.e. An Orange is a China, whereas most other places is a Naranja. To know whether it is male or female, just remember: males ends generally with (o)'s, and females with (a)'s. There are exceptions, but they are minimal. Another thing that we Puroricans do, is to shorten everything, (contractions), especially in rural Puerto Rico. Learning is not at all difficult, given you have the time, the desire, and proper tutoring....Saludos cordiales...JRod...
