VIRUS ALERT:

Please take the time to read this entire message to the very end and follow
all the recommendations.

Reports are coming into today if what sounds like one of the most malicious
"virus" attacks so far. W32.Nimda.A.@mm is a mass-mailing worm which
uses several methods to spread. It utilizes vulnerabilitues in Windows NT
and 2000 servers to infect the server and it also uses email and websites to
infect Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 machines.

If you view a website that is infected it will start Windows Media Player. At
this point your machine is infected. The worm then scans for vulnerable
servers and emails itself to everyone in your address book. It also makes
other changes to your machine in the attempt to infect others who might
share resources on that machine.

To prevent this happening their are two choices
* Don't browse web pages until Microsoft releases a patch
* Turn off Javascript support in your web browser.

You can also become infected if you receive it via an attachment in your
email. It is advised that you should not open ANY attachments you may
received in your email and turn off auto-preview if you have it enabled
especially if you use Outlook Express.

The virus manufacturers are currently working on methods to detect
and remove the worm so for right now your Virus software will not
detect it!

Keep checking with Microsoft and your Virus Manufacturer for
updates and update all your software as soon as they are made
available. Attacks on servers started this morning and the number
of attacks is increasing exponentially. Please do your bit to stamp
this out as soon as possible!

You may find it hard to get to some websites due to the load being
placed on web servers today. This does not mean these webservers
are infected just that they are experiencing very heavy load due to being
constantly scanned.

Here are a list of websites with much more information regarding this
worm:
