Exclamation

I have read quite a few posts of people wanting to move to PR. I'm one of them, but I have yet to see any info. on HOW to do it.

There is not a lot of info., either in print, or on the web, about PR.

Come on people, lets get our heads together, and come up with a way that we can escape the rat race of mainland US, and move to PR.

I don't want to become rich. I just want enough money to live life, get sunburned, have a constant hangover (ha ha), and go to the beach or mountains with friends or family when I want. I wanna be a Sammy Hagar or Jimmy Buffett and be a beach bum!!!

My background is 15 years in the semiconductor field, equipment repair, as well as process development.

I don't want to live in San Juan. I'm tired of big cities. Outside of SJ, or one of the smaller towns, i.e.. Ponce, Mayaguay, etc. will do.

Some of my ideas for owning/operating a business in PR.

--Motorcycle repair shop. Buy/sell used motorcycles.

--The ever popular used book store/coffee shop, located near a university.

--Used clothing (thrift or "Goodwill" type) store. Bulk clothing can be bought and shipped from Florida.

--Bar/restaurant with Cabaret show (Cuban or PR Salsa type band with dancing girls).

I had this idea to get a "Ricky Ricardo" and "Lucy" act. Ricky to direct the band, play the straight man, and a Lucy actress to bumble on the stage as part of the band, or dancing act.

Ricky could be found locally. I was just in Los Angeles, and saw an actress at Universal Studios, playing the Lucy character and drawing caricatures for the "tourist".

--ANYONE, please post your ideas to this thread. IF YOU CAN BELIEVE IT, YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT!!! Let's do it together, and get the hell outta Dodge! (No offense for those living in Kansas, ha ha)

Smile has anyone actually moved to PR

HEY,

I have been for a long time now attempting to relocate. My in-laws live in the southern part of PR & have been trying to get me work. There are some cooperations & heasdhunters in PR that might be interested in you. I am in the wrong field for a headhunter Counseling. I would be willing to try anything that could support my family. You have some good ideas. I unfortunatly live in Ohio & want to get the hell out real bad.My wife who is from PR wants also to go back. So keep me posted on ways to get there & I will also keep you posted.
PS I have ideas also for business.
Take care
TaLee

Thumbs up

I've been moving between the states and Puerto Rico for years and the only companies I use are LA ROSA DEL MONTE AND MONTI MOVING
La Rosa Del Monte tollfree number is 1 800 4larosa (452-7672)
and Monti Moving's number in florida is (305) 884 4550
These comapnies have been around for over 30 years and are the companies that native puerto ricans use.

Hope this help they both offer great service in english as well as spanish are much cheaper than american companies.

Whatever you do DO NOT use Monti Moving. I used them to move to Florida and they LOST my property and then laughed about it when they thought I was on hold. Lucky for me they found most of it and am suing them for the things I did lose.

OK lets all get together here! I would LOVE to move to PR. I live in NY. I went with my girlfriend in 2000 and I wanted to stay. I don't give up though, I'm still trying to find a way to relocate over there. I know the salaries are lower (although US companies are there and can pay more) but when you have children you have to make sure you can pay your expenses. Anyway, I know my children will love it there, and if I find a way I'm out! Then I'll post another reply and let you know how I did.

Good luck to everyone moving or trying to get there.
