Unless you have a political godfather, or you get hired directly outside of PR by a corporation, the best place to start is a temporary agency. Don't wait until you get to the island to look for a job, start now. Check the corporate web sites of the industries based in PR and get a feeling what they need. You maybe lucky and apply directly with them, but 9 out 10 you have to sign in with their favorite temp agency. Check all the PR websites, few of them contains a link for employment. Get the phone number for the regional employment office for the area you plan to live. They maybe able to give you some information of the job market and possibly mail you some forms. If not, get someone in PR to get them for you. Make sure you have a copy of your birth certificate. Be ready to provide an urinal sample for drug screening. Some forms require a tax stamp from "Rentas Internals". Get the latest newspapers from PR, El Nuevo Dia, El Vocero, and The SanJuan Star. You can order them at Antojito.com, under the Books link. I hope this info gives you a headstart.
