Question

I have only made sancocho one time, and it came out ok. But, I wanna know if anybody has any tips on how to make a REALLY good stew, and what kinds of ingredients I could put in it to make it better, because I really don't know!
All I could think of was carrots and potatoes, plus the beef itself. Need some help u guys.... give me something!

Hi Xica_la_Vega2

This is a friends recipe, but she says it's very good..

Sancocho

1/2 libra de carne de res
1/4 de libra de carne y hueso de cerdo
1 1/2 litro de agua
1 cucharada de sal
1 cebolla pequeña
1 ají dulce sin semillas
1 tomate
2 hojas de culantro
1/2 pimiento verde
1 mazorca de maíz
1/4 de libra de yautía blanca
1/4 de libra de yautía amarilla
1/4 de libra de batatas
1/4 de libra de calabazas
1/4 de libra de papas
1/4 de libra de ñame
1 plátano maduro
1 plátano verde
1/4 de taza de salsa de tomate
2 dientes de ajo

Corta las carnes en pedazos y lava el hueso. En un caldero grande pon a hervir el agua con la sal. Corta en pedazos la cebolla, el tomate, el pimiento, el ají y la mazorca.
Añádelos en la olla junto con las hojas de culantro y los pedazos de carne y el hueso.
Cocínalo en la olla destapada a fuego alto hasta que hierva. Luego reduce el fuego, tapa la olla y deja cocinar por una hora. Añade la yautía, la calabaza, las batatas, el ñame y los plátanos -todos mondados y picados.
Agrega la sal restante y la salsa de tomate.
Cocina tapado por otros 45 minutos. Retira los plátanos verdes del sopón, májalos con el ajo y forma bolitas. Añádelas nuevamente al sopón. Sírvelo calientito
