In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Dear brothers and sisters,
I am a native born Puerto Rican brother living in Louisville, Kentucky. According to Census Burea statistics there are over 69,000 Puerto Ricans that live here in the Bluegrass State. As of November of last year, the city of Louisville passed a measure that merged the county and the city of Louisville to make it the 23rd largest city in the United States. Yet, with the such a large number of Puerto Ricans in this area, there is no evidence of progress made on behalf of Puerto Ricans. There are no businesses, no newspapers, no radio stations, no tv stations that connect us with our culture. There is no means of communication. This is one of the websites I connect with to communicate with other Puerto Ricans. I would like to help initiate something within Louisville to help put some influence on what goes on with the day-to-day operations of Puerto Ricans here in the Ohio Valley region. This can be a great opportunity for Puerto Ricans to obtain a great level of influence in a city that is ripe for the taking. I am witnessing this in Chicago (which is five hours a way). When I read the excerpts of conciencia, El Jibaro, RaulR, PRTaina, and others I see what can be combined as a Think Tank for us to carry out strategies that deal with our affairs. I hope my Puerto Rican brothers and sisters will look at this and give me feedback. The time for action is now. We need to send more Puerto Ricans into Congress, and have an influence in who gets voted in the presidency in 2004. Taking advantage of situations like this will strengthen our foothold here in the United States.
your brother and servant,
Hector Falu-Muhammad
