I BELIEVE ITS TIME THAT THE BORICUA
COMMUNITY IN N.Y. FLEX ITS POLITICAL MUSCLE BY GOING AGAINST THEIR TRADITIONAL "LETS VOTE DEMOCRATIC" MAYBE EVEN FIELD ANOTHER CANDIDATE TO RUN FOR THE SENATE A LATINO WHO COULD SPLIT THE VOTE,MAYBE ITS UNFAIR TO PUNISH MRS.CLINTON FOR HER HUSBANDS ACTIONS BUT IT WILL DEMOSTRATE THAT WE CAN CHANGE THE OUTCOME OF AN ELECTION. Indeed, even in the upcoming elections for the Presidency, I think it would behoove the Boricua community not only of N.Y., but of the entire country to consider a third party candidate who is neither a Democrat nor a Republican. In fact now that this past Sunday, Ralph Nader has officially accepted to run for the Presidency on the GREEN PARTY TICKET, in my point of view I think he would be a great choice for the Boricuas to support. Some of his party platform, to give an idea of what he stands for, includes being against the death penalty because it has been skewed against the Minorities in this country; they being the most who have faced Capital punishment than any other group in the U.S..And secondly, he is an ardent environmentalist, much better than Gore will ever be. He is totally against, for example, the type of destruction of the environment that has been going on in Vieques for so many years. Also he is against corporate welfare for the rich, and has been receiving since he threw his hat in the ring substantial support from the trade Unions of this nation. He is rapidly taking away the support that Labor has traditionally given to the Democratic Party. He is a real comer, who if he were ever elected would be very good for the Boricuas, and indeed all minority groups in this land. You may know the old adage, and I think it applies to Nader that "there is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come." Nader's got those kind of ideas, no doubt about it. And not only will he have Gore shaking in his boots, but he will put the candidate of Perot's Reform Party to shame too. Regards Bro, EddieR #1 |
