To spank or not to spank?

Just a quick question to see what you guys think, does spanking work with every child?

I would have to say that now days it seems that you can't even repremand a child, you are looked at as an abuser. I personally am 24 years old, and though I do not have any children, I DO BELIEVE IN spanking. I DO NOT BELIEVE in abuse! Don't get the two confused. At times those "time outs" work, and other times...well
they do not. I have 8 other siblings who were all spanked when they did not follow the rules, or did something "bad". I however, was the last of nine..and did not get the spanking All my sisters and brothers tease that I was spoiled, my parents stopped using the good old paddle, but let me tell you, I KNEW WHEN I WAS IN TROUBLE !!!!!!!!

I think the severity of the punishment should depend upon the action that was committed and the age of the child. In my eyes there is a line to be drawn but only the parent can draw that line. Do the Crime Pay the Time!

I think your right. I cant agree with you more that children sometimes do need a spanking, but it is the parent that has to make that decision. and not too rough.
I have no kids but my parents spanked me and I think it drew a line good discipline in the long run. My little sister didnt get spanked. she is spoiled and does whatever she feels like doing now that my parents are old.

i really dont believe in spanking because some kids still continue to do bad even when they do get spanked. i have a son and i dont spank him, i think you need to let your child know his/her limits..yes there are in some cases where some really rude obnoxius kids do need a wack..but in general i think if you let your child know where you draw the line they will know how far to go and know when not to cross that line. i was also the youngest of 6 and never got rarely ever got spanked compared to my bro and sis and they say the same thing that i was spoiled!!! but i think i just knew when to stop or else..lol...thats my opinion

Hola saw your post. Sometime spanking does work it depends what age you start taking discplinary actions towards a child. My uncle he has 3 kids he's in the military of course but when he's their he's the man of the house. When he goes to Korea or to the field the children has fun when he's gone b/c the fact the mother doesn't have controll of her kids & she won't spank them. One day my uncle wanted to spank my oldest cousin which is 11 now my aunt told him not to hit her. Sometimes spanking can work for certain kids. If my aunt discpline her kids when they were younger than they won't be out of control. Since the 11 y.o is the oldest they younger kids do what they see what their sister do.
