Dear Lorelei & Liz,
Thanks for encouraging me to search for my
father. I have been procrastinating for many years hoping he would search me out instead.
He knows he has a daughter and where I was born. I figured it is much easier for him to locate me than it is for me to search for him. Let me ask you both a question. Did your mothers stories match with your dads story as to why he left or she left? I often wonder if my mother is telling me the truth about him. I have limited information on him. Gosh there must be a few thousand men with the name Manual Colon Lopez! But never the less,
you both have encouraged me and I will not stop looking. I am getting married June 3rd, 2000 for the 1st time and would love for him to be there or his family members.
Thanks guys!!!
Kel

Kelly:

There is a Manuel Colon Delgado living in Cayey who might be a relative of your father. His telephone # is (787) 263-4380.
If you are really serious about finding your biological father call this number and simply ask for Manuel Colon Lopez. Cayey is a very small town and people tend to know each other generation after generation.

Did you ever call the demographic register?

Good luck.

Dear Kelly:

Don't go crazy trying to find out who is telling the truth or not. Your mom will tell you something, your dad another. It's too late to try to find out what exactly happen, and it is not worth it. Try to forgive and forget. Go on and try to find your father. I see here that a lot of people are giving you good advice on how to go about it. Go for it... like I said before, if he don't want nothing to do with you.. is his lost.. not yours.

Well take care...good luck with your wedding and with your search....

Hi Lorelei:

I'm a little camera shy. So I'll skip the Oprah thing, although I would kill to meet her. If there is anyone I admire, she's it.
Have you had any more chats with Gerardo. I really hope you don't shy away from trying to meet him. If you would like help writing to him let me know. I can translate if necessary.

Kelly: have you followed up on the lead?

Take care of yourselves and others.

Thanks to all of you who have taken the time
to reply to my topic. I unfortunately have not taken the time to follow the leads I have been given. I will however go home tonight and call the Manuel Colon phone #. I did try calling the Demographic Register the other day from work and our phone lines do not permit calls to PR so I will try on my next day off or tonight and see if they are open later than normal business hours of 9-5 Est.

Actually, I think I will leave early today to follow up on those leads. THANKS! I will keep you all posted. Kel

Dear Isabel,

Kelly, I'm wondering how it went with that phone call... Thanks for keeping us posted. I'm pulling for you.

Hi Lorelei:

It can take up to 5 days for mail to get from the US to PR. I would definitely love to stay in touch. My email address is
Isabel.Dejesus@db.com. Listen, if Montel agrees to fly you and your family to PR to meet GERARDO "GO FOR IT". Your story is a happy one. A testament to the importance of family and of knowing ones true origin in order to understand our destiny. I really believe that we all need to know where we come from before we can feeel completely comfortable with where it is we're going.
I don't know if this makes any sense to you, but it's the way I see it.

Have a great Thanksgiving.
