We will be visiting PR end of may with 2 little kids. How's the Westin Rio Mar for a family of 4? Is that a good place to stay?

The Westin Rio Mar is beautiful, but a bit pricey. And you have to keep in mind that it is not in San Juan. If you want to spend the night in town, getting there is going to cost you. However, if you would rather stay within the complex (there's lots to do), it's a good choice.

sooo how long would it take to get to san juan? how long would it take to get to the rainforest? and how about safety is it pretty safe around there. I heard outside of san juan is dangerous?

The westin is right across the street from the rainforest. It is also close to a nice beach called Luquillo. To get to san juan, you're looking at a 30 minute drive. a cab may cost you around $50 each way to get to san juan. The Westin may run buses to san juan or old san juan, i'm not sure.

the westin is safe. san juan is safe, as long as you stay smart.
