Car Rental Insurance / Added Costs

Will be flying to San Juan Airport in Jan next year. Need a rental, but am not sure what added costs are required i.e. What insurance and surcharges are mandatory?

Louis:

There are some rental companies that try to sell you an added policy just for Puerto Rico. Some will not rent the car unless you buy it.

I rented from Avis without the special policy. My credit card and auto policy both covered the rental. Additional insurance was not necessary.

So check with your credit card and auto insurance company to ensure what they cover.\
