Thank you for your suggestions, I don't want to make it seem like I'm just leaving because I'm not I have to get everything ready first and I would tell my parents It wouldn't be just like running away I was just wondering if at 17 I am legally allowed to live on my own or if my parents could stop me from moving out. Its not like Im going onto the streets I have a place to go and I would get a job. Email me if anybody has anymore information m.nixon@puertorico.com
Thanks

Yes, your parents can stop you. The legal age is 18 to be able to leave without your parents permission.

I, myself have a problem with my mother's house which is vacant for about 6 years.
i go 3-5 times a year to maintian it. I tried selling it but my stepfathers son said I am
sellin it too cheap. i went to a lawyer and if I sell it my stepfathers kids get half.
I have been fixing the house with my own money and I save the receipts.
I want to live in it when i retired, but now because the house is unlived, I have to pay for
contributions. Like paying taxes on a house in the states. My mother has been ill in a nursing home and has alzemiers. We don't have the money to pay for the contributions and now I am left without a house because of the laws in Puerto Rico.
Someone give me some advice.

Contact a real estate attorney in Puerto Rico who is familiar with real estate law and estate issues. If you do not pay the contribuciones (taxes) you may lose the property to the government.
