Fourty years in Florida. The tourists move into my neighborhood and the taxes go up again ! Naples Florida is overrun with millionaires who cause the cost of living for the working man to go up daily. The population grows so fast that your friends cannot be found. If you make new friends . . there moving next week. The cops follow you everywhere waiting to catch you making a wrong turn . . .
on and on . . .
There's a small Cafe . . . Somewhere south of the Pueblo called Florida on the north coast. I stoped to have a sandwich, sat down next to several old men having a beer and we talked. A car pulled up and two young men, teenagers got out. The shook hands vigorously with each of the old men and the approache me. Shook my hand saying bon-provecho ! I was astounded that they were so friendly. I asked the cafe owner why . . he said: They must show thier respect to the older folks or they know thier not allowed inside. . . . I left, went back to my care and like a baby I cried with deep surprise. Fourty years living amongst agressive unfriendly people !! . . . . I have a beautiful house in the jungles of Maricao with my wife and 4 cats. We both think we have died and went to heaven. Everyone here in Puerto Rico is just wonderfull to us !!

Naples

Hi...you Are Right, It Is Sad How We Live Our Lives In This Century. I Lived In Naples For About 7 Years, I Moved To Panama City Beach. The Most Beautiful Place To Live. I Lived In Miami, Coral Springs, Naples, But Even That Naples Is Pretty, Panama City Beach Is The Best. I Was A Property Manager In One Of The Apartments Complex In Green Boulevard. Now Is Difficult To Live In Naples, My Older Son Lives There. Last Time I Went There It Was Different, Theres Not Job And People Are Moving Out.
Are You Living In Puerto Rico Now? I'm From Naranjito.
Chao,
Marinemom

2 years latter . . .

It has been two years since that post and basically nothing has changed in my attitude toward the people! I can still approach any stranger in public and start a friendly conversation . . they respond with unusual friendlyness. My wife has planted a fantastic garden on the side of our mountain and become an "authority" on tropical plants. Our 4 cats have multiplied to ten. I have started a Yahoo group for English speaking Americans and Puerto Ricans to help with orientation and . . . just contacts. I know . . we are all having fun, but there are times when we need to speak in English and share problems, etc. Yahoogroups . . PRAmericans (search bar). Logos Calamus
