ME! ME!

Hi Rican,

I just moved here 5 months ago. I live in the 19th Ave and Northern area right now. I see you've been here since 1986 huh? Nothing but cow pastures back then from what I hear.

I hope you are well. I've been to a few latin places like Pepins and El Matador to shake some Salsa into these bones a few times. Finding a Puerto Rican here is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Where in AZ are you?

Finding Ricanz

Hello everyone,

The following are spots where I hang out to meet or just be around Puerto Ricans. Post where you meet them.

Pepins Restaurant: My top pick!
Salsa, Merengue, Bachata on Friday and Saturday Nights. I hear the food is not that great though. But if it's dancing and fairly priced drinks, it's a great place.

El Matador Restaurant in Downtown Phoenix:
Friday and Saturday Night Salsa & Merengue. Live Salsa Band, Large dance floor.

Havana Cafe:
North East Phoenix, 65th st. & Glendale
Great Cuban and Puerto Rican Food & service. Worth the money. Say hi to Chris, the blonde hostess. She enjoys our food and culture.

Kay Rico: At the Howard Johnsons
Right by the pool. Nice quaint bar. Music by the pool on Fridays and Saturdays.
My opinion, The food is not that great and it's over priced. By stating this, I'm hoping they improve because it has great potential.

Post Seven Year Drought

I have been in Phoenix for seven years and have never met another Puerto Rican in Phoenix, but I see alot of PR flags in people's cars. Thanks for the tip of where to go for Salsa Dancing, should a special someone want to come visit me, I now know where to take her.
