Question

I am working on a memory album for a trip my family took to Puerto Rico in January, and I want to do some of the titles in Spanish. I want to say "the tourists," referring to a group of 3 women and a man. Is that "las turistas" or "los turistas"? (My Spanish-English dictionary says that "turista" is masculine AND feminine. I don't really get that concept.)

Also, we stayed at a place called La Casa Del Frances. I have some pictures of the dog and the cat that lived there. Is there a special Spanish word for domestic animals (pets), or does "los animales de La Casa" convey what I want to say?

Thanks for any help and advice you can give!

Hi meg_in_virginia,

It would be "Los Turistas" meaning male and female tourists. "Los animales de la casa" conveys what you are trying to say. The spanish language is complicated.

Hope this helps.

Pets

Also you can say either "la mascota" (fem., plural- las mascotas) or "el animal doméstico" (masc., plural- los animales domésticos).
