before the island was named puerto rico, it was known as borinquen wich was the original name that the taino indians called the island, when the spaniards arrived it was changed to Puerto Rico cause of all of the gold that was found in the island, boricua comes from the old indian name of borinquen, thats what lots of puerto ricans call themselfs today, its preety much the indian word for puerto rican, as far as churita goes i will take a wild guess and say that it probably means ****, cause lots of us puerto ricans call **** "chura" in spanish and the word is churita its probably mean a small **** lol i dunno adios ~1~
