What Is Your Favorite Film of All Time and Why?

in no particular order:

se7sen- brilliant script, good acting, great direction, one of the best thrillers ever filmed. plus an amazing opening title sequence.

fight club- great book, great movie. some of the most awesomely nihilistic lines.

the princess bride- hilarious. great fairy tale.

city of lost children- great story. the visuals in this flick are amazing. from the same directors who brought you "the diner" and "amelie", and "alien: resurrection" (unfortunately).

the godfather I & II- of course. arguably the finest american film of all time.

the cell (with the sound off)- stunning, jaw-dropping visuals, lame script.

love actually- best romatic/comedy i've seen in a long time, although british humor is a little weird. unfortunately, my fiancee made me buy it, and we now view it on a daily basis. see it, but not 700 times.

clerks- piss-your-pants funny.

cube- i'm, like, the only person who's seen this, i think. rent this movie, if you can find it. you'll be washing your hair with your eyes open for a week.

reservoir dogs- brilliant script, well-served by the low production value.

THE USUAL SUSPECTS - its just excellent!! #1

L.A. Confidential

The Count of Monte Cristo - I saw this one on the plane to Puerto Rico, go rent it. Sometimes we are naive he learned a hard lesson.

Gladiator - and not just because of Russell Crowe :-)

Shrek :-)

Monster's Ball is a good one too. so much talk of the sex scene and cable cuts through the movie straight to it you lose it. Rent it to understand better.

There are others but I can't think of them right now.

"Under Suspicion" is a good one, too.
Morgan Freeman, Gene Hackman, Monica Bellucci...

Well, it is based in PR, for starters (as for my reasoning) but a VERY GOOD and DIFFERENT movie -- in terms of directing and camera shots, chronology, etc...
