Loyalty

Loyalty is something
people who have lived and loved and lost and grown
understand,

People might be idealists,
and are spit on and betrayed,
for remaining loyal to an ideal,
but what the spitters and the betrayers do not understand

Is that if you can't be loyal to those who care for you,
or for those who never gave you cause for betrayal,
you betray out of stupid ego, pride, and immaturity,
You destroy something precious,
companionship, and respect,

And when the enemies surround the betrayer,
and they find themselves cornered,
No one is going to stick their neck out to save them,
Because all know the person in question has no values and is not worth a hill of beans.
