He's also from puerto rico(i don't know what city or area), and said he was 18 years old, has a little sister, parents, both ears pierced, and has either a male friend or cousin named (or nicknamed) Jo-Jo/Joe-Joe!! any of this sound familiar? yeah, i know...this is kind of ridiciolus to think i'll ever find this man--but i still hope later,...and best of luck in the future with men

fill me in
hey, it's me again! you're a puerto rican, correct? I forgot to ask you...I recently fell in love with P.R. and am considering moving there, at least for awhile. I'm scared, though, and need any advice anyone can give me!! you seem like the perfect person--can you tell me anything that you think i would need to know before i mack the move. are there any precautions, expectations, major differences between the U.S. mainland, do people get upset if i can't speak spanidh well, etc., etc., etc Basically, anything you could tell me about your culture, people, lives, activities, climate--i would love
if not...that's cool too. again, thank you!!oh, and is it true...that all puerto rican men can dance

well actually, I'm not Puerto Rican but I had a relationship with a man, and I use that term loosely believe me, who was. It lasted for 5 years, about 4 1/2 too long! I've been to PR too, and parts of it are very nice. I personaly can't stand the humidty so I could never live there, but visiting is fine. What I can tell you is that living there is a lot different than visiting for a short period. Jobs do not pay as well down there, there is a lot of hassle just to be able to get a job, you can get by without speaking Spanish if you stay in or around the tourist areas such as Isla Verde or Condado. Other than that I don't know what to tell you except it's a whole different way of life, it's very laid back, people aren't very punctual but they do like to party. Now, the question about all PR men knowing how to dance, ... I can't say for sure but, I've never met one that can't.OH OK, one last thing, the men have a different view of women, the culture is one in which the women are expected to stay home and do 'woman' things while the men go out and play dominoes, pool, and drink all night, so that might take some getting used to. A strong woman, and an American one at that, may be seen as threatening to some men, so keep y that in mind also. Good Luck, and about what this guy did to me, let's just say, he must be under the impression that it's his duty to single handedly populate the earth with every poor young girl he can find! Best Wishes to you and remember if you do move there and you met this guy I'm warning of, get outta' Dodge! LOL

Ki Ki, first of all, thanks for writing back!! and the tips/info you gave me, are great--they'll help in my decision. and if i were to go down there, for awhile, the people would be ok w/me not knowing any spanish, right?!?! they wouldn't be resentful about my not knowing, would they? (b/c when I went to france, and my french wasn't as top-notch as it could've been, I noticed they were giving me a certain attitude.) I can kinda say I could feel that whole "women stay at home" attitude, but is it true that a lot of them have mistresses, and are "players"? That's what I was told anyways! Do most of the natives know/understand lots of English (cuz this Mikey guy I met, didn't!), and I wanted to know if that was usual, or not. So, are you libing in P.R. now, or did you for awhile? Also, I like how you said a strong woman, especially an American one, can be seen as intimidating--(power rush)
In general, how is P.R. and its' citizens attitudes towards the U.S.? Is there resentment or jealously, etc.? Are they well "in tune", with "what's going on" in the U.S.? I don't know how 2 say/ask this, but, is it true that P.R. women "flaunt,"/show off their bodies and are much more sexual than Americans(i don't mean to stereotype)? hey,...not to bring up any bad memories or anything, but, where/how did you ever meet your ex? And lastly, (after all this questioning!)I'm sooo sorry, once again, 2 hear about your past relationship (maybe the stereotypes about P.R. men are true, afterall?), ...all's i have to say, by what little i know, it's a good thing the relationship's the way it is...in the past![]() later,...peace |
