racism!

i would like to pose this question to the moderators: how come so much racism is allowed on these boards? every time i look around there is something else posted with hate against white people. there are many whites, blacks, and other non-hispanics that are using this board because we love and relate to the hispanic culture. we should not have to come here and read about some trash posted against our culture just because this is puertorico.com! thank you for your attention to this matter. respectfully, mami

I understand fully what you mean and I have faced the same because I am not fully Puerto Rican and I just read a board that said that to be 100% Boricua, you have to write and read good in spanish. I know that person wrote that directly to me because that person knows I am from NYC and that thread was about the NYC Boricua Parade. I just brushed that person off and gave a non partisan view of what a Boricua is, and that person has the guts to complain on this forum about what another said rightfully against what he said first. I just wanted to give you my point of view on this.

Hey why wont you try to become a moderator, they are short on them and it would help control this epidemic. See ya brother! Also, tell the moderator to specifically which post said what and he will take care of it!

thank you so much for your support! i am sorry for what is happening to you around here too. nobody deserves to be treated like that. some people are just very ignorant and they need to be told so. as for me, i can read and write very well in spanish and i speak it good too. some people from my own spanish church, where i am the only gringa among hispanics, even thought i was puerto rican! that felt like a really good complement to me. my only problem is that i do not understand it as well as i write and speak it. i have to work on that more to teach my son. i speak to him what i know everyday in hopes that he will become fully bilingual through me and his other spanish influences. feel free to holla at me anytime brother!!! ps-that moderator thing sounds nice. maybe i will apply sometime...

Hombre-cuidad is right. We are in need of moderators to help keep the site clean and free from offensive language. The hostility on the boards is increasing. If you can remain unbiased, please apply to be a moderator.
