Negativo, el Merengue fué originalmente música Haitiana, que surgió de una mezcla de la música francesa con la africana. Se traslado a la Rep. Dominicana, y fué introducida a Puerto Rico por primera vez via el conjunto Quisquella.

Aun que en PR existían ritmos parecidos por la herencia africana este genero, que nos gusta mucho y lo disfrutamos en verdad nace del Haitiano.

La salsa es otro cuento.

BOY!!! EITHER U WERE BUZZZED UP WHEN U HEARD THAT MUSIC AND COMPARED IT OR U HAVE AN OLD RADIO, CHECK IT OUT. IT MAY BE BROKEN OR SOMETHING.
