Carlos A. Reyes, born January 16, 1968 at a Municipal Hospital overlooking the Ocean on the enchanting Island of Puerto Rico. In Puerto Rico, Carlos was stuffed into a taxi against his will and involuntarily transported to the United States. It was 1972 when his Mother & Father, Doris and Ramon, brought him to Queens, New York. There he was raised in the high tempered ghettos of New York. Through the early years, 5-17 – Carlos was “exposed” to all sorts of abstract forms of life, including child abuse, physical and mental abuse, not to mention, Black Magic and much other family dysfunction. Carlos suffered a cruel life with his adolesencently – inexperienced parents and as a victim of an unfortunate environment. (Oh’ and statistics.)
Even at an early age Carlos, knew he did not belong imprisoned by his family’s values and undesirable social misfortune. Carlos always had a positive outlook that everything he was being “exposed” to, what would lead to a life of functional creativity and an enormous value structure of his own. At the tender age of 9 Carlos started to work on the streets of Paterson, New Jersey, where he shined shoes at local neighborhood bars to help feed his family. Carlos knew that his chances of surviving in the real (“normal”) world would be miniscule if he did not start to develop a passion for survival. He knew there was more to life! (Risks – to – Take). To further his own development, Carlos only associated with adults. Comprehending, early on that adults would further his development, faster than children his age. Carlos is an intelligent individual and was just beginning to unravel his “Power”. In addition, he has sharpened a very unique philosophy of how to achieve positive conscientiousness while still living a normal life.

After many slings and arrows worthy of a best seller, Carlos arrived in California at the age of 21. California is where Carlos fought with life and work; one on one and was rewarded the everlasting eye into infinite wisdom by finding the balance of life. As Carlos would say, “I was born in Puerto Rico, raised in New York and Matured in California.” To make a long story short, in June of 1995 a promotion took him back to New York.

After countless withdrawals for San Diego Carlos quit his job, packed his belongings and shipped them to storage in California and set out to drive across the country, all by himself. Spending most of his time in Nashville during the storm of 96 he developed an even greater passion for the Country Music that he loves so much.

Carlos went to Nashville for his internal love for Country Music, not knowing that the trip would inspire him to become a songwriter. Lost in dreams that perhaps he could meet one of his favorite country music artists ----Wynonna, Clint, Garth, and George! Carlos had no such luck! He toured everything in Nashville and headed to Memphis to tour Elvis Presley’s house and the Studio where Elvis recorded most of his early work. Leaving Memphis full of dreams, Carlos drove south to New Orleans to get more acquainted with the land he always heard about in songs.

His creativity was truly unleashed when his radio broke while driving through Texas. Carlos did what he always does when no radio is available, he sang out to the world. While driving through Texas “for a week one day” words came to him that he had never heard before in a song. With no radio and on his birthday, Carlos wrote “Exit to Heaven”. When he reached his destination (San Diego, California) he immediately started to research the songwriters market.

Carlos started to learn about his craft and that’s how it all began. Carlos has started a music publishing company, doing business as “Cupid Cramp” music publishing. Carlos believes that his passion to create enables greater possibilities and his dreams will become reality through songwriting. He would also like to reach the point where an artist decides to record his songs or a label takes notice of his talents and takes him on as an investment. Carlos wants an organization to “tune- in” to his creative marketing, business skills and song/writing skills.

Country music has been a positive driving force in his life. That is why he loves it! Carlos feels that he has so much to offer and he would love to give back to the music where all his tears and moments of joy come from, Country Music! Not limiting himself strictly to Country, Carlos concentrates on writing lyrics that cross the boundaries of the standards and delivers his lyrics for a broader spectrum of listeners. Everyone from Country – R&B and Latin listeners as well as Pop Culture listeners will have an opportunity to one day sing the same song.

Carlos only focuses on hooks that are purely commercial. Being a “deep and intuitive” individual allows him to concentrate on the challenge of writing what he knows others will consider a fresh new approach. His lyrics and song titles speak for themselves. See below for some of his song titles and also two complete song listings at the end of this message.

Carlos wants someone to take notice of him for his creative writing and outreach efforts. Music has given him roots, feelings, sadness, laughter, joy, knowledge about the soul and about being an individual. He feels that Music is a driving force that eats away inside of you and the desire to succeed comes from the desire to reap the reward of hearing the world sing your song----that’s truly when you know your song is alive. He feels no matter where life takes someone, the sharing of experiences through music and touching others with it, is what music is all about.
