Hi...
Every year when we have the fiestas patronales Puertorriqueñas en Humboldt Park (Chicago,IL) the announcer always says "Bienvenidos...aqui les estamos presentando lo mejor de la musica Puertorriqueña" ... But then I hear Perico Ripiao, Merengue y Bachata being played... And I'm like... "Nena... Eso e' musica Dominicana..." And Hardly ever do I hear Bomba y Plena being played throughout the festival. Cuz without those two... along with other cuban influences, there would be no Salsa que nos encanta muchisimo hoy! And everytime a Puertorriqueño hears me playing bomba or plena in my car... (especially the younger ones... ) they'll just look at me like... Turn that old people music off... Pero la plena todavia tiene mucha sabrosura! and I love Plena. I mean... Soy parte dominicano tambien, and I loooooooove my Bachata and Merengue... However, Why are alot of Puerto Ricans hating against their own music?
