Question

Hi...

Every year when we have the fiestas patronales Puertorriqueñas en Humboldt Park (Chicago,IL) the announcer always says "Bienvenidos...aqui les estamos presentando lo mejor de la musica Puertorriqueña" ...
But then I hear Perico Ripiao, Merengue y Bachata being played... And I'm like... "Nena... Eso e' musica Dominicana..." And Hardly ever do I hear Bomba y Plena being played throughout the festival. Cuz without those two... along with other cuban influences, there would be no Salsa que nos encanta muchisimo hoy!

And everytime a Puertorriqueño hears me playing bomba or plena in my car... (especially the younger ones... ) they'll just look at me like... Turn that old people music off... Pero la plena todavia tiene mucha sabrosura! and I love Plena. I mean... Soy parte dominicano tambien, and I loooooooove my Bachata and Merengue... However, Why are alot of Puerto Ricans hating against their own music?
