Tremendous thing!!!
Yes I checked out mi gente- what a performance- and that Pacheco was wack back then!!! Those Africans loved Hector!!
On that website I typed in SALSA on the search box and went through about 17 pages of salsa related videos- they had two other LAVOE videos and they also had "Quitate de la via Perico" segun by, I believe, Ismael "Maelo" Rivera, with Roberto Roena on Bongo and cowbells- this is another must see video- filmed in the early 60s, somewhere??. There is also a video of some JAPANESE "LOCKER"- ala Rerun from Whats Happening fame, DANCERS- it is also GREAT. Thanks for the link. Yo Yujike hows life in Paul Newman country! |

[size="4"]Fulano, like you I explored the site that Jane so graciously provided to us and found a lot of good stuff.
You know what? Paul Newman has his Hole in the wall camp for kids with disabilities from all backgrounds right next to us in Ashford and he comes to our town often. This is where you see all that $ from his products in action helping truly needy children. I met him when he came to our High School to look for volunteers and many teachers and students signed-up to help. He is very down to earth and truly a nice guy ( a little short- Hollywood makes this people look like giants on the screen). Jose Feliciano also lives here in Connecticut and we've seen him perform at Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard. It is mighty cold here in the Land of Steady Habits, and very expensive too!![ Jane, the link for Hector Lavoe's essay is endi.com, you'll see the article on the domingo magazine on the bottom left of the page/SIZE] Last edited by Yujike; 1st March 2006 at 10:34. |

I found it Yuyike, thanks!
Yep Fulano he was wacked back then. You know what that was.... Now he's claming he did this and that, and had the ideas for Che Che Cole.... He's losing his memory you know... That song wasn't on the album he claimed it was...and Hector was already singing with Willie.

Ct - stands for Cash Taker
Although NJ stands for Neverending Jam. The smart ones leave the Northeast I realized a long time ago; unfortunately here I remain.
Yujike- I went out to Mystic two summers ago, and a couple of other towns whose names I could not recall, but they were clearly "old money". Beautiful area; very New England; We even drove by Foxwoods, but did not actually stop; it is an incredible place; but that 95 around Stamford and the surrounding areas is about as bad as it can get. It almost killed the mood on my way to Mystic. You ever read Ronald Fernandez book about the Macheteros and the Wells Fargo Robbery [came out in 88]. Jane- as you know, polvo sniffing has, and still is a great "relaxer", for a lot of these artists. Que desgracia. Wish me happy snow shovelling; MALDITA NIEVE!!!!!! LOL |

Get a snow shoveling machine! Oh my! I forgot your talking about today! I haven't looked out the window yet!
Yep, some still do it, but not many. It is a shame.

Yes I read his book, I don't know if he still teaches at University of Harford. We have some of those Gerenas here in the town I reside. We get to go home early from school even tough we have not seen a flake yet and it is almost 11, too many lawyers out there I guess. Most of the shore in Connecticut is "old $", but let me tell you I would not change Connecticut for any other state. Nice to visit Florida in the winter but would not live there for nothing. New York city is great for dining and theater, but I can not afford to live there. California has too many hazards and Texas is wacked.

lollllll wacked! The sky is so high in Texas, the clouds are far away! I've been dying to visit the New England areas, but never had the chance. Florida was too flat for me. I had a groundhog day experience over there in Jacksonville. Everyday the same thing over and over again!
I was out in 4 months! One place I did like was New Orleans, back in 79-80. It was a wonderful place...but I live across the river in Algiers and Gretna which wasn't too far.
