The American Rican

Who are the American Ricans? We are the generations of those who fought for American and Puerto Rican Liberty in World War I, 20,000 of our Puerto Rican man and woman participated and most died.

Who are the American Ricans? We are the generations of those native farmers Puertorican who migrated in the mid 1930’s and 40’s in search for jobs. But were faced with many obstacles; cold weather, substandard living, racism and harsh time.

Who are the American Ricans? We traveled to New York, New Jersey, Florida and Chicago for a better life, but so, our strong resistance for assimilation of the American culture and tradition has been a threat to the main stream Americans.

Who are the American Ricans? We kept charging forward like the Taino Indians, fearless, imposing our customs, language and traditions into an ocean of bottomless. We kept fighting, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Middleeast War, and Bosnia. We have studied worked, fought, died and lived for our freedom to be recognized to be part of what?

Who are the American Ricans? Now we losing are language, our customs, and traditions. Do we speak Spanish or spanglish ? Do we all eat at the table at dinner or in different rooms in front of a TV, Do we celebrate Christmas or The Three Wise Man. What have happen are we given up?

Who are the American Ricans? Are we exchanging materialistic way of life for a fifty first star? Are we willing to claim our togetherness as a Nation and lead our own way? Are we selling ourselves to the highest bidder? Are we willing to grasp what we have and make it better? Are we confused? do we have identity? What we listen to Salsa, Rock, Rap? How do we dress? Like Italians, Blacks what? What are we Newyorkrican, Chicagorican, Jerseyrican, nativerican what?

Who are the American Ricans? We are a Nation that still recognizes, but seldom use, our language, food, and love for each other. However, there is one thing that we do in common. We do this almost as a religion a or cult. It does not matter where are we located or what people think. I believe if we send a Puertorican to the Moon for a US mission, he will put a Puertorican flag there and a big one too. We already know we love Puerto Rico I believe there is no other race in the world that is so proud to be Puerto Rican, All we need to know is that we know we want our Nation back.

Who are the American Ricans? We are unify people that have been separated by circumstances. We are a Nation that have paid our dues or debts to those who helped us, We want to be a free Nation as we been taught by our transitions colonizers. It is time for us to dignify ourselves as a Puerto Rican Nation, Strong, Independent and Free.

[/BConciencia, you say that we wantP.R.tobe an independent and free, tha"s you. The puertorricans that
votes and counts has consistently votes agaisnt inde-
pendence in proportion of 96 % to 4%.
Puertorricans that live in other parts of our country(U.S.A)
are living in a higher standard than those that stay in P.R.
trying to do something for Puerto Rico. You are living
the the statehood benefits and privileges.
The probems that independentistas have is that they wants
independenece with USA citizenship, Wellfare ,cupiones
de alimento, dolares, and alll benefits of tjhe americans in the mainlamd.
Puertorricans in other parts of our country(USA) wantsP>R
to become free and independent but living in New York,New Jersey Chicago, etc. If you wants independence
come to P.R. stay with us fight for independence, lower
living standard about 30% here, get the higher prices we pay here(please do not argue about taxes, that is a phrase
"trillada " in P.R.]

What do you really want ?

Basketball,

Thanks for anwsering the poem/statement whatever you want to call it. Are you Puerto Rican ? What is it that you want? Here is the bottom line, Do you want to ever salute the Puerto Rican flag or the American Flag, Would you settle for faising the flag (in official occasions) along with American or alone. Same with the Anthem. Depending how you answer these easy questions, then you realize yourself what is it that you want. You know money, richness or standard of living does not takeaway or give being Puertorican.

You need to research

Basketball,

I really think you need to do a little more research as to when the PR flag is raised and where. Also you need to figure how long the current political status will last. Just because PR becomes a republic does not mean you will not be a PR.
