Broken Promises
Why do lovers make promises? If, they eventually end up breaking, The very promises, they have made! The ones they claim will always be the same! Why say that nothing will ever occur, then As if nothing was ever said, you say your farewell! Why bother talking, singing or laughing with a lover That will only leave you, when things get tough! Why waste the minutes, try to work things out, Put up with restrictions, just to be thrown to the side? What really matters? What is important? If one day, all of a sudden nothing matters after all! Why even stop your breathing, when once you did it in unison With your lover that couldn’t be, anything but a dream come true? Why Dream? If you must wake up and face the truth! Those very dreams that held your heart, Soon turn to nightmares, when you must part! The reason we keep on trying, The reason we do all these things, Is because we must never stop dreaming Never give up on hope! For even that lover, even those very illusions, Can make those promises, Count one day in your heart again They are, what compose you today! Thus making us what we have become! One day you will soon find out, That lover is someone new in your heart! Never give up on hope or promises made Because that lover just might be with you, again And if he isn’t, then let it be For you have grown stronger and wiser, my friend! What you write is so true. A person should never give up on love and hope. I feel that lovers change because they never loved. If the other person meant so much to them, they would never say, I can't but say I will try. They would always find the time because they want to be consume by that person as much as that other person wants to be consumed by them. That is true love, yet also to know and feel so self assured by that love that you can do your own thing and not feel threaten. That is love! True love that is reciprocated.
