Make up your mind.....if he doesn't tax U.S. corporations in the island then he has to raise higher the taxes for the middle class........this is a NO brainer.......if Fortuno doesn't tax them then they will complain that he gives them breaks......damn if he does damn if he doesn't.....jejeje politics as usual.

RPR now you discovered that congress gives TAX BREAKS and Credits for U.S. firms to operate over-seas????? LMAO!!! This has been going on forever...........60 MINUTES did a special a few weeks back about this and this is GLOBAL not just Puerto Rico.

Isn't this what Europe does also?

Plus Fortuno has no say or vote on the U.S. FEDERAL TAX SYSTEM on U.S. Corporations.......he is just doing what 50 governors with deficits are doing....cutting and taxing........if people have a problem with the tax system the they should take it with congress and Obama.

But the Repubicans are in control.....mos likely these corporations will keep the same tax breaks or get more......lol

Most governors are not raising corporate taxes. In fact, their cutting taxes...

States pay their fair share of taxes...we know Puerto Rico does not. So here is an additional 6 billion dollars footed by the American taxpayer on top of the 13 billion or so that already goes to the island.....#statehoodfail

Btw happy 208th anniversary.

To have a balance to your topic.......Puerto Rico doesnt receive the tax breaks and credits states do for small business plus they dont receive the Earned Income Credit and other incentives and breaks states do.

Puerto Rico Corporate tax rate is max at 7%.

Most states are raising taxes to deal with their deficits........dont take my word for it, according to the Tax Foundation:.

The Tax Foundation - State Corporate Income Tax Rates, 2000-2011

Puerto Ricans in the island are over tax in my opinion and they get little incentives and little to no tax breaks......I think you have been living in the states too long RPR.......maybe you should go back to P.R. and work......you will pay more in taxes in P.R. than in your state..

Tunnel Vision

No wonder statehood goes nowhere....you guys think you're so slick.

Puerto Ricans pay taxes to the local economy. The decreasing minority that work "on the books" do not pay no where as much as is needed to maintain the colony running....that's why there is a 13 billion outflow to the island every year....and you think the colonized have outsmarted the empire? That they'll allow for more goodies under statehood? bwahaha

Cuba was given a vote in the senate for statehood many years ago...it was rejected

Dominican Republic was given a vote in the senate as well....it was rejected

Ahora digo yo......diiiiito nene y todavia ustedes ni han llegado al senado despues de 113 aņos...lo unico que le dicen es "We'll take it under consideration".

What I'll never understand is why someone who has put his life on the line to defend his so called country is so impotent that he won't stand up and rightfully asked for his full rights. You can die for this country but you can't vote for those who send you to war?

I believe in independence....always have and always will since a child. No one indoctrinated me...it is a man's inalienable right to choose their own destiny.

No people should be subjugated to an outside power. No one.

I believe in independence but I'm a free thinker. If the statehooders decide to march on Washington then count me in. Don't waste your time trying to convince me.......convince those who control your destiny.

1) I thought we were talking about a CORPORATE TAXES and the loopholes the federal government gives corporations to operate over-seas which includes Puerto Rico.

2) Cuba and Dominican Republic are REPUBLICS with its own constitution and citizenship........why would you be surprised that a bill A LONG TIME AGO paid by business men who had investments in those islands was rejected in congress to make those 2 countries into a 2 states of the U.S.?????...You know how many bills congress gets a year that gets rejected and dont even make it to the senate? You be surprised.......you have 435 congressmen, anybody can put a bill at any given time, that doesn't mean it makes sense and that it will even get to a vote......if the congress dont kill, the senate will.

3) Puerto Rico is an ORGANIZED TERRITORY of the U.S. with U.S. citizenship UNDER FULL jurisdiction of the U.S. Constitution.........that's the huge difference between P.R. to Cuba and D.R......now you understand why those bills were REJECTED?

4) Thank Munoz and LOS POPULARES why the oppositions statehood and independence can't get to the senate with a MAJORITY to petition a change...........why are you surprised that the U.S. is not going to force an ending to this?.......My opinion is that's the problem of the residents of Puerto Rico NOT the federal government.

Every change in this world happened because the silent majority woke up and demanded change....that's for every revolution, any civil rights act passed, Elections in any democratic country, any constitution made or change and more rights......until the silent majority in Puerto Rico wakes up and demand change then nothing will change.
