* People don't interact more in conversation on this site?
* Interesting threads get overlooked? * Intellect is hidden? * Only a few people seem to be interested in meeting new people? * Non Latins don't seem to be welcome, although many Latins frequent other ethnic or cultural websites? Is it just me or can anyone really answer? Perception would suggest otherwise. |

You ask relevant and interesting questions. And I find conversation with you very satisfying and fun!! But let me give you my spin on your questions okay?:
Answer to question no.1: How much do you know Truthangel on the history and themes that interest Puerto Ricans? I have told you that the status question of Puerto Rico in Politics is where almost all the action is. You put a thread up on the politics board and right away you got responses. Over 15 of them too!!! If you do not know anything about the politics then provoke folks and ask something like "Why don't you want to be state number 51? is not the USA good enough for you guys" or something like that. Lol. I am pro-independence and that would catch my attention fast. And then you can ask your posters questions about their politics and garner some good info on stuff. I am on the Bangladesh board now (I am not a Bangladeshi politics expert at all.lol. But I want to get an education so I will say something provocative to get some info). And I will steal a great phrase from such a lovely woman as you and say "you feel me on this"? Lol. You must know Truthangel that conversation must be something mutual and beneficial. The open board has been a little dead lately (Puerto Ricans are busy buying gifts and making plans and Christmas is hectic for everyone!!!). By the way Truthangel a very merry Christmas to you and Feliz Navidad. Second Questions: Maybe the thread is interesting to you, but not to the others. Figure out where there are active threads and jump in with your two cents. The more different your opinion is from the previous poster the better it is.LOl. Third Question: what do you mean by intellect is hidden? People are not going to give you their resumes Truthangel. You should click on the magnifying glass where it says search to get a good background on a particularly interesting poster. I also must tell you that Puerto Ricans really are interested in their island and in their community and things outside that scope are covered in other boards like "Philosophy" which I love....lol. Fourth question: I am interested in new people and so are a few more people. But it is your duty to jump in the pot and make a stir and get going.....people love big mouths and opinionated folk but only those who understand this is a Puerto Rican board and as such this site tends to reflect the Puerto Rican perspective on life and on issues....and as a non-Puerto Rican you are very, very welcome. But if you want a BIG response you should get some education and information on the gossips and happenings in Puerto Rico. If I join Scotland com (like I have) I dont go there to educate people on Puerto Rico, I go to learn about English and Scottish problems and themes.....lol. You have actually made a good impression Truthangel and you stirred genuine interest with a cross section of Puerto Ricans....just get feisty and controversial Truthangel and you will get quite a lot of attention. Deserved attention too!!!! Amor tu amiga, Suki. |

Thanks always...
Suki for informing me about the site. I do venture to other sites and I have been scanning this board, but I'm really a fish out of water over here and maybe I do need a tour guide to help me as for navigating through the types of topics discussed.
However, the only thing that I've gathered thus far are issues related to politics which are not really discussed in my community, but are related primarily to Puerto Ricans and the identity issue. I didn't realize many Puerto Ricans had no idea that many of them had African ancestory. Trust me, I'm not shy and I am more than capable of sparking conversation on a topic, but when I asked why the intellect is hidden; my overall reasoning was based on the aggressiveness that I'm accustomed to on other sites on the message boards and people do seem rather shy on Puerto Rico, but I'll keep trying. As for the why of the lack of response: Everyone is busy with the holidays, reguardless of culture and for that reason I'll give those here the benefit of the doubt. However, I've been on for about 3 months and I just haven't seen the activity yet on the boards like I'm accustomed to. My questions are usually sparked by spontaneous thought or curiosity so don't be put off if some of my thread titles might "GO THERE" at times... I'm glad I've made a good impression thus far and I really do appreciate you always speaking up... |

It depends the questions asked. Your question posted not to long ago about what Puerto Rican men get frustrated about (something like that) would tend to be more for the single and dating men. Around here the men who constantly post are married and older already. We used to have a large audience of younger folks but they haven't come around in a long while.
If you want an answer to that question you can post in the "love" forum or in the "dating" forums. In those particular forums you tend to find younger people looking for someone to talk or maybe date. It all depends on how the questions is asked. Now let me say this once the topic is touchy you will for sure get alot of responses! ![]() |

Thanks PR...
I've put more than a few questions out there on various boards and I'm still exploring the boards and trying to get a feel for what people are interested in.
Politics, religion and philosophy tend to be the most heated areas of discussions; although those areas of discussion are more passionate as relates to my motivation or input; however, I do notice that race is thrown out there in various forms, but it seems like a topic no one wants to discuss. Perhaps it is a tired subject, but always relevant if one is living in America. I'm interested in chatting with anyone who has something positive to say or one who is honest enough to put their feelings out there on controversial issues. I like people who can talk plain, but educate like a true scholar. Quoting words from the likes of Gurda, Thurough, Sun Tsu, Nietsche, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X is great, but understand that true intellectuals are not so interested in impressing the world with what they know, but helping all men transcend their lack of knowledge. That's who I am, who are you? |

TruthAngel,
I am one of those whom always claim all my blood, Black, white, indian and even Arab. But I am Puertorican first. my skin color may throw off certain american groups but when I tend to eat Rice and bean in a daily basis....hey I am a Puerto Rican....when I tend to listen to Salsa or other caribbean music...hey I am a Rican....when I play volleyball and baseball...hey I am a Rican...when I see and greet my father, brother and families regardless of gender I kiss on the cheek...hey I am a Rican. When I cheer for Tito Trinidad and Ruiz on a Boxing match, regardless of skin color...I am a Rican...When ever I go Europe, Asia, Saudia or USA I have my Puerto Rican Flag....Hey I am Puerto Rican...enough said.
