I've been reading this book that says that marriage in all forms is not, strictly speaking, natural to humans. Marriage doesn't seem to mean much in this day and age, and being monogamous can be difficult. Any thoughts?

Marriage is SACRED

Hello,

I found out through live short lived life that marriage is a sacred contract. I say contract because if you are a believer of a higher being, you marry in front of his blessing and of course your spouse. I am a person that travels too much, yet I have been married for over 18 years. I found out that temptation will come in all forms and shape, that contract has help me maintain and remember what I sworn to abide for. When we combine the love and relationship of our spouse as well as the children you become virtually temptation proof. Even in marital problem. The attitude of none marriage status is not a new wave or "in style" The Babilonians and the CANAANITES and those who existed during the time of "Sodom and Gomorrah" thought the same way, basically thousand of years ago", so in essense who is really out dated? or antiquated?, nonetheless these civilizations were destroyed, I have my religious reason to belief way, but you can use yours, bottom line, they have been destroyed.

Even mankind, especially in the commercial world acknowledge the power of a contract, you are more prone to keep house payments if you knew it was yours by virtue of a legal document versus a by word of mouth type of deal. You will never get any type of loans unless you sign a contract...THINK ABOUT THAT!

I can't agree with what you read. I feel that marriage is very natural. People that fall in love usually want to marry because this way they can share everything with that special someone. It is true that society is more acceptable to people living together thus taking away from the true value of a marriage. We must live with set of rules because if we don't, then our society will suffer and we will then have a society that will run amuck.

I remember one time my daughter asked permission to go to a party at one of her friends' house. I thought it was okay since I knew the family, it so happens the parents weren't going to be there, I didn't know this at the time, my daughter tells me, "mami, you don't want me to go to the party. right?" I couldn't understand what she was talking about, since I had given my permission. My daughter knew my rules. she knew how strongly I felt about attending a party with no parental supervision. She decided to tell me that the parents would not be there. We were talking for a while and I complimented her about the fact that she told me. She said, "mom. when you are strick I know you love me"

My point is that children as much as adults need discipline. We need rules, because of these rules we are able to function better in society.
