Suki, too many things at one time, you have posted in your two latest. But, since I am pressed for time, what with deciding on a menu for dinner, etc. I will try to address what I can recall about the lots.

First, you ask about your feelings that I am being "hard" on you for being a subjectivist. I don't see me being "hard" on you for that at all. Hey, if you read more in the History of Ideas about Philosophy, you will discover that subjective idealism, also termed solipscism, is a valid philosophical idea. It was George Berkley, an English philosopher of a few centuries ago, who was the first philosopher to address subjectivism in a methodical and philosophical manner. Read him, and I think you will never ask anyone "permission" to be a subjectivist.

One thing more, and I will try to return later to make 'heads or tails' out of some of the other extraneous topics you have mentionsed in the posts.

The question of aposteriori propositions being knowledge. Well, I think that was what Kant made the main question of his Critique when he asked "How are synthetic apriori propositions possible?". To answer that question without peradventure of a doubt, is not possible, but I would say that in the empirical world, the sense data that we obtain through knowledge by aquaintanceship with the sense data makes it more than possible, but also probable.

It is a real encounter with the empirical world. On the other hand, and here is where "doubt" sneaks into the picture, the knowledge by description we achieve through the patterns of thought, i.e., the categories of reason of quality, quantity, relation, and modality, all of them merely 'templates' in the brain (probably through DNA code switching) never gives the mind apodictic certitude about the real world. Hence, doubt that what we see in the patch of our brains concerning the external world enters into the thought-process, and we can never be sure that the empirical world is actually the way our patterns or categories of reason have organized the content of our sense data. Therefore, we can never say 'for sure' that the external world is identical to the way we think about it.

Perhaps, that has much to do with me being a dialectical empiricist and/or materialist, and not a Kantian nor a neo-Kantian. However, as I must dash at the moment, I will return to the plethora of other things that you have packed into your two posts.

Till later...
BAK, you said you can't post from your home. Is that because your computer has broken down, or is it because you need to download some utilities from the websites that enable you to. for example, get rid of duplicate files, edit your registry, defrag the hard drive and remove ads that are active x apps. that make your computer unstable?
All the build-up of such volatile apps. are as bad for your puter as are hackers. In regard to the latter, they can gain control over your computer, and delete crucial files that will make it impossible for you to access puertorico.com.

I think I mentioned also that you need a good firewall which will protect you from such intrusions into your puter. And also you must have a good anti-virus program, which allows for updates of new virum definitions on at least a monthly basis. Now, here is the kicker, you can get all of the required tools 'free' if you know were to go and what to look for. In short, scandisk and defragmenter are not enough to keep your puter running efficiently.

You will probably read all of this at your place of employment, so I will wait for your reply to what I have said about Kant and his concern with certitude about the aposteriori and/or knowledge we obtain by acquaintance with the sense data of the empirical world.

Till then, I remain
Eddie R.

Eddie,
My puter troubles are complex to say the least. Lol. First I did not have any firewall and no anti virus of any kind. It gave my puter 710 viruses and made it highly unstable yes. Also, since neither my hubby or I have any computer techy interest....(the technical aspects of puters bores us both to death), we just like writing. Plus we got hit with all kinds of weird ads and porn and all kinds of weird stuff that overloaded the puter. We called some expert help in to help us clean it all. He said it was close to irremediable. But I got a guy from India, two computer whizzes from Nepal, and a dude with a powerful program. Also a Mexican guy who I cooked an excellent meal for spending hours on my computer for installing all the stuff.

At work I am extremely busy and I write on my breaks and when I can which is less than 20 minutes a day. When I get home Eddie, I am bombarded with stuff I gotta do. I gotta deal with social workers, calling government officials in two countries and cooking and cleaning and errand running. Plus HL takes Aikido in the morining, piano twice a week, I gotta to exercise and then I gotta cope with the mountain of complications that are arising with the paperwork for the child. If I told you what they require you would be quite confident to know that I am completely trustworthy person. I am realizing only really stable people on all fronts pass these screenings by the feds, the local state, the International courts and the Mexican security system they got over there. It is discouraging if you think about how long this stuff takes Eddie. They check if you are healthy enough through doctors, they ck and see if you have a criminal record of any sort, child abuse registry check, if you even have traffic tickets. They check if you even have been treated for mental therapy of any sort. You must prove NO MOODINESS or mental illness, criminal record must be spic and span, your credit has to be good. You must not even be in any credit card debt. It is incredible this stuff. Thank goodness, my husband and I are clean living folk. You must attend classes about parenting for 14 weeks. (which start next week for me and my husband), those classes also give you tests to see if you smoke cigarettes, or beers or take drugs. They talk about how you cope with disappointment, problems and how you handle anger. They probe and see what kind of knowledge you have about each other. My poor husband was so stressed last week Eddie. Because they come over and open your cabinets in the kitchen and if you don't have first aid kits and fire extinguishers. He cleaned everything. Even my closet looks perfect. Lol. (They look in the closet). They even ask about your ideas about religion and other things. You have to be honest. Thank goodness our social worker is not a conservative. Lol. They ck your salary your employment history your GPA in college your life is under a damn microscope. It is the most invasive thing I have ever been subjected to.

I don't know what the Mexican guy did but pr.com has some kind of block or restriction. And since I am ignorant on how to deal with it. Until the kid gets back from Mexico City I have no way of writing on pr.com from home. I can read but I can't post. Why am I telling you this Ed? You don't trust anybody anyway. Lol. You know I had to write how much I think my furniture is worth? And why I bought a Vitamix blender and how many CD's I got....why? I need to demonstrate my ability to provide a stable home for a child or children....for little foreign alien children coming to live in the USA. This is really stressful Eddie. But, I don't have a choice now do I? I don't believe in spending thousands of dollars on finding out why I can't have my own children. I frankly and quite honestly DON'T care, if the child is mine biologically or not. I truly don't. My husband knows I wanted to adopt since I married him at 18. Who knows if I will have one. The docs think we can...if we waste money on doing it. 90% if I spend big bucks. Why spend big bucks? There are plenty of children nobody wants already here. Fight for them. Fight for all of them. That is what any person with the ability to do so should do.

I am sorry Ed, not much philosophy content in this post.

Suki.

Eddie,
I finally got to read the confidential references from people who have known us for more than ten years time...and their comments about who my husband and I are as people. It made me very happy. Lol. I never expected such fine recommendations from people we have known for such a long time.

How do you feel about children in general Eddie? What do you think are important qualities to have as a parent? You know I said if I do as good a job as Yautia has in raising her daughters, I would be content. One question on the application for the parenting class asked if I was ever spanked by my parents....and other private things. It is very invasive Eddie. And truly one process I would not like to be subjected to ever again. But I guess there is a legal responsibility to justify legally turning over a tiny new life to be raised by people not blood relatives....and the state needs to justify it. I just wish there was someway in which they could do it without making the adoptive parents go through so much. But I guess it is hard for both sides. For the family of the children who are not wanted and for the new family. SO MANY Eddie....so many children suffering. I think about what you went through Eddie when you were young and did not have enough to eat. And all the health problems too. And I think, this child needs us....for Mexicans to not be able to find extended family and get these kids to stay within the family the circumstances are dire Eddie. Many can't feed the kids...or don't want the responsibility. And all their family is in the same boat. This kind of circumstances is not the exception in that beautiful country. I saw so many of those children Ed on the street. I wish I could take them all home with me. All of them. All I can do is do what I can. No se Eddie. Las injusticias de este mundo frio a veces me destroza.

Suki.

PS. Who knows I might get lucky and get a beautiful little boy as well who is as smart as you were as a child Eddie? I would love to have been able to raise a son with as fine a character as you have. I would not mind if he became an atheist or communist or anything of the sort. I would quite enjoy him and count myself lucky. Lol. Take care. And tomorrow I will ask about Kant a lot. You were lucky too Eddie. To get an education and have a good and true life. And to have such a fine mind and character. You are fortunate as well Eddie. How I would have loved to have raised such a child...as bright as you were in your childhood. No matter the pain that it causes us....all struggle is worth it. No crees?

But no matter if he is as bright and engaging and dignified as you. Or as mannerly as Jose Nestor or as full of poetry as Letty or shy or whatever. I will love him. No matter what. As I would love my daughter the same. No matter what. I still believe in love. Always will. Blood and sacrifice and LOVE. Hasta el final......

I guess Letty would be better to talk about this with. I will be gone permanently in a few months Eddie. And when that happens I hope you remember me just a little bit. Cuz I will remember you filosofo boricua....of that there is not the slightest doubt. And maybe someday I can come in for a visit from a busy life. (And it might be I will miss you too much too. Lol). I have a clean computer now. Firewalls and everything....but I would rather have what they have in Star Trek....where there is the food replicator and all you would have to do Eddie is tell the computer...."I want Suki's food that she made for me....and voila it would happen!!" Yep, that is true high tech that is useful.

Suki, so it was a fact that you computer needed the utilities that I mentioned. And since you are not a 'tech' and find the use of such tools "boring", then you had recourse to paying for the repairs.

One "guy" even wanted to scrap your computer, get you to buy a new one probably from him so he could get a commission on it, when it proved not necessary. Profit max rears its ugly head again at the expense of the needs of a person like you.

Now, you say you believe that PR.com has put some type of block on you that leaves merely 'read only' capabilities, but not participating by writing replies. It is difficult for me to accept that, because you now have a 'clean' computer.

May I suggest that you start from square-one by going to NETWORK in the control panel, and there selecting your TCP connection. Then hit the properties button and make sure that domain lookup, or DMA is disabled. Then go to the WIN configuration, and make sure that WIN resolution is disabled, click in the box next to it to disable that. And finally, go to the bindings section and make absolutely certain that you select only Microsoft Client, click on that and remove all other checks of other apps. Then click the final OK button, and the message you might receive is that you will have to reboot your computer, so if it offers to do that accept to reboot. Once back in to Windows, you can do one of two things, first try to reconnect to your ISP server, and then once in, go to puertorico.com. If you can both read and reply to postulados, then everything is okay. But if you have the same problem of 'read only', then I suggest you will be better off going to Add/and Remove in the Control Panel, and remove your ISP software from there. Make sure first that you either have a CD with the ISP software on hand, or if you don't go to your ISP server download page and download the latest edition of that software. Save that to your documents. Then after removing the software you now have, INSTALL the latest version, and/ or the one from your CD. Then setup anew, and go to the puertorico.com website and register anew either using your old screenname or better yet Vida, since that suits your Passionaria style so much better, IMHO. But you do the choosing according to your druthers, it is your name and you know best.

It should take you about a couple of hours to do all the above, but it will be worth it, because you will have in effect a new app. to go along with your newly cleaned computer.

Good Luck, Suki; I will be back to address some of the issues that you mentioned concerning children, and what I opine concerning the tykes and what is a fit world for children in general. And also why I am optimistic that we whom are the current generation might be the last to carry the burdens of the terrible world we reside in. Also why my communal mind-set is considering that the children that might come in the future world WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT WE WENT THROUGH AND THEREFORE NEVER HAVE TO BEAR SUCH A CATASTROPHIC BURDEN. But that is still in the planning stages, and it all needs to be worked out and approved by our communal mind-set if and only if it proves NECESSARY.

Till later...

Eddie,
Why do you assume so many things? Why? I did not pay for any of the computer stuff. Not a penny. Those kids (the computer experts),are friends of my husband and I. And we do favors for them all the time. And being decent kids with good values from traditional Asian countries...they do it for free( they get the anti virus and other software from their jobs and from their friends programs too and share it for free with us. I am paying monthly a small amount for the computer (I did not buy it outright). It is the cheapest model Dell makes. Before then I had an old computer donated from my father who bought it as Sears a long time ago. Do you want me to tell you my entire computer history and my hatred of technical computer stuff. I truly hate tech stuff related to computers. I like writing and looking stuff up on the internet. I had to ask Ecuajey to help me put photos in my sig, because I don't understand it. The photos are gone now because I don't remember how to put it in anymore. I would love to put images and stuff on my sig. But I don't have the patience for learning the procedure. I want to break the computer in half. I prefer writing handwritten letters and mail to email. I am hopelessly old fashioned. And not as progressive and high techy as you or MOM either. The supposedly more modern technique has never appealed to me. I never liked cars either. If I could live riding horses, cooking from scratch, reading by candlelight and no tv or radio (just a good stereo with a few buttons to listen to music on I would be happy). Lol. I don't believe in daycare for children or video games or anything. I believe in staying home and doing things the old fashioned way. Criticize me all you want you modern, progressive beautiful man Eddie. Lol.....lol... those computer guys would do anything for my food too. They really love it. I guess doing things the old fashioned way in the food arena is superior... Lol. I would never pay for fancy computer stuff. I never got into all of the computer world all that much. Never have. Should I spend half my life on a puter figure out how to do this or that? And once that happens they come out with the new version. If I ever have to pay to fix my problems on the puter, I would go back to the word processor and forget all this crap. That is how much I really am not interested in spending so much time figuring stuff out. Apparently the Mexican guy did something cuz internet explorer is restricted too and can't be used by my hubby. And the husband tried to lock out the puter from the godsons who were burning cd's with bad rap music, and he called the internet provider and they mistakenly restricted pr.com. HL will see if we can bypass the paid for restriction. Because apparently we are not willing to spend one dime on this stuff....I would rather spend it on getting my children. And that is very inexpensive. This whole adoption thing has had extraordinary people come forward and either give us services for free, or for a nominal fee. We are going to adopt very nearly for a tiny amount of money. Which is unheard of. And you might not believe it Eddie. I don't care anymore if you believe me or not. You are a skeptical. I don't blame you. I will save the adoption story for Leticia g. And for the child. Because if I heard the series of coincidences that went into it, I would not believe it either. And I would never expect you to believe it either.

Hey, what happened to the answers to my jam-packed questions on the previous posts on Kant and my flow of thoughts? How I really enjoy thoroughly your analysis of so many things Eddier1. Really.

Awaiting your response soon.

Suki.

PS The high here is gonna hit almost 70 degrees. That is what is so strange about the Rockies and the Front Range. You can get almost late spring weather in the middle of winter. The sky is a light blue, the clouds are soft and like faded the light is bright and strong. I was filled with the most lovely feeling of optimism this morning. I will see the ocean soon. I hope to. Kant was so much fun to try to understand and question. I started reading him on a picnic in the mountains just as you recommended. And I like that word you use for the babies "tykes". Lol. It is a cute word. Hmmm, I think Borges would truly like you and when he likes you he puts his big head on your lap and looks at you and licks your hand and face. I want to implement as many socially responsible philosophies based on objective truth as possible Eddie (I think it is the definition of good parenting). Como me siento hoy? As if a bit of spring weather here was made to enjoy fully. No one should be working on such a beautiful day. I wish you could be here to see it.

Do you hate parties Eddie? HL absolutely flees from them. He does not like crowds of people supposedly celebrating something. Remember our friend Laura? Well, she wants to have a huge BABY shower for the baby....with more than a hundred guests. She loves all that stuff. HL is one of her best friends....and HE HATES THE IDEA of it. Yet, she is from the home state of the baby and wants him/her to be an integral part of the community. Oh, forget it....why ask advice about this from you....you are not Leticia g. Please give your analysis to the questions in the previous post....and forget all this social rambling of mine. I am so filled with optimism Eddie. I know I have some health related problems with mom and HL, but I have great hope in the struggle I always have. May I blow you two big kisses....and say I hope they land right on your right cheek. Precioso Eddie. And I can't use by given name by my mother for a screenname now can I? Lol. I get jokes all day from my co-workers and others because of it....they usually start singing some old bolero like....si tuviera cuatro vidas, tararara....

Suki.

Suki, let me edit what I said about the puter procedure for accessing the puertorico.com. I said, now that I read the post again, for you to make sure the DMA box was checked disabled. I am human and misstyped (big deal, eh)what I should have typed is the DNS box. But never mind, since you assumed that I was writing a sceptical screed about the FUN of computer tooling. Yes, Suki (not Vida) I find the tooling lots and lots of fun, and all the hours sometimes that is required is well-worh spent when one succeeds in making the computer run smoothly and efficiently. On the other hand, you show a "contempt" for such tech things, which I don't because to me technology is a crucial part of science. Without it, we would all be still running through the wild, eating hips and haws, and painting our behinds the color blue, like the Brits did in 'olden times'. Don't get me wrong, Suki, because I don't think that science and technology is something 'sacred' because I don't really think that. To me it is the most satisfactory improvement that the human race has ever made. Nothing more, nor less.

Look-it, how did I know that you got all that help from your friends in straightening out your computer? I'm not a mind reader, you know. And when I have had repairs to make on stuff I got years ago, I paid for the work, and even threw in a beer or two, or a pot of coffee "and", for the workers if they wanted to partake. Never did I expect that you would be so 'castigating' of me on such a matter. That's the way you came over to me.

About children is yet another topic with questions that you added to the conversation. I didn't expect it and have not commented on your "adoption" procedures, since it is none of my business. But when you address me about my views on children then you are in another league entirely. If you expected anything nasty or irritated by me, then you were proved wrong. I love children and don't want them to suffer like I did; all the castastrophic burden, if we commies can do something about it, will be as though it never happened for the children. AS THOUGH IT NEVER WAS!!!

Now, you want to stick to the subject of Kant, okay. Then I ask you not to make our conversation ala the General Personals again. If you can't do that, then our "discussion" will be over. You have yet to respond to my answers to a few of the questions you posed about Kant. Instead, you went off on the personalisms. I tried to assist you in getting back into puertorico.com, and that is the extent of it.

We will 'talk' later, if you wish....

Eddie,
I guess saying I hate tech stuff was too strong a word. If you enjoy it and find satisfaction in making your puter run smoothly, more power to you Eddie. I don't enjoy those things. People have all kinds of gustos. Maybe I was too hasty in my opinion of high tech stuff. I spend my day Eddie, on the puter at work navigating a bunch of systems and talking, translating and typing at a furious pace, and I just get fed up with it, after a while. It is all subjective perspective Eddie. So, you just ignore my comments about how I feel about it. It is just burn out. You just wanted to be helpful. I have to read updates on memorizing new ways of doing things on the puter every morning. It is tiring. My eyes and head get tired. So, don't you take any of my comments seriously. Take it all with a grain of salt. I have an average of 20-30 different systems on my compu at work and they are changing things CONSTANTLY. I have to memorize the changes all the time. Memorize procedures. Then I have to type technical reports, and stuff and translate people with every Latin American and Spanish accent and other accents including Brazilians and Italians...all the time. At the end of the day, my throat is raw sometimes from translations and explaining things and typing and navigating and trying to remember the newest changes in the computer system. I go to trainings for new systems regularly. You know life is about balance Eddie. And turning off all that stimulation and relaxing and doing something simple is needed. I never meant to put down your sincere liking and interest in your computer things. I enjoy my work because I serve people and make their lives easier. But it is hard work. And sometimes I get tired and complain. Don't you pay attention to it. I envy you your enjoyment and skill at all of it.

And you and the Scientific Socialists have made our lives better. As working people. And your contributions are important always.

Forget all that other social rambling stuff. I was just rambling. If I want to talk small talk and stuff I will write to Letty about it. Don't you pay any mind to all that rambling.

I will get back on track later on....

Good bye.

Suki.
