Re: My parents are a fascinating story Eddie

Suki, I have been a tough-minded scientific socialist for most of my existence, ever since I was a kid in fact. In those days of the Palmer raids and later the UnAmerican Activities Committee, I was accused to the FBI, and investigated by them. They tried to run me in and place me in a Reformatory, and when that failed they exposed me to a regular adult Federal Prison to teach me a lesson. Believe me I had to use all my wits to avoid getting killed by pro murderers and incacerated crooks. Fortunately I prevailed, and since they had nothing on me that could stick because of my young age they had to let me go. But ever after they referred to me as a commie who was "crazy like a fox".

So you see Suki, I am still a scientific socialist who both your dad and mom would understand. But let me tell you I am not really a tough old bird now, because you really broke me up about your sensitive and loving relationship to your dad. And you once wrote that I have a very strong personality and that is true, but I also through the aging process have been revisited by a nervous condition caused by the political police of this country. And it has physical symptoms that are really exhausting. Nevertheless, I still feel that your story about your dad evoked a true feeling of empathy for you my friend that has nothing to do with my age related problems. So again I wish that you stay well, do good work, and definitely keep in touch.

Te Respeto Muchisimo Como Amigo y Boricua,
EddieR

Suki, it is 1:14 AM here on the east coast, so I will make this answer as brief as possible. Indeed, one philosophy prof. I had once told us that any philosophy could be boiled down to a 15 minute summary. But because of my long relationship to my philosophy I think I can do even better than that in time.

So let me say that existence or being is not an object of possible experience. It is a metaphysical error to assert that it is. So much for the non-validity of Ontology.

For me the purpose of having a way of life is that we are born to achieve freedom and sure freedom, and when we accomplish that we fulfill our debt to natural selection.
Put in more uplifting words, perhaps, I should say that our purpose in life as scientific socialists is to follow our bliss of freedom and sure freedom as fearlessly as possible.

Con Mucho Respeto,
EddieR

Smile Dead Ringer A La Suki's mom again!

I am having another flash of Mami de ja vu again...And she is even more fiery against statehooders and conservatives than you are...I am afraid if I tell her to join PuertoRico.com the hillbilly is going to get apoplectic.
And she is a Library of Congress encyclopedia of knowledge on how to destroy the oppositions arguments, and if they get personal she goes for the jugular...Maybe I should be compassionate and not let her in to this forum. A couple of prominent super right-wingers got destroyed on the radio debate with her and told the station that if she was on they couldn't participate because she had too much information and she would convert people against their cause (quote end quote).

Ella se pasa viajando de la isla a EU and back and forth. The Vieques people love her (she gets huge amounts of support after her speeches at big organizations) the public school system in her state just turned over 70 million dollars to a group she represented because quote from the official documents "we fear that I--- R----- is going to get a civil rights case against us...I--- R----- is a dangerous opponent and could cost us more funds in the long run. It is better to reach this compromise than risk dealing with I--- R-----".

So you are indeed in good company, Eddie. And I hope you get better. No matter what health problem you have know that I will think of you and God willing meet you someday. Love, Suki.
P.S. Should I let Mami in here? She has an advanced laptop and is a world news junkie, and hits at least 54 political sites a month. It is peaceful here and she is a dear and humanistic person as well...but in politics apoplexy is what awaits the Hillbilly if she is let in here.

Suki, does Mother reside with you guys in your home in Colorado? If she does, then first things first. I would like to see you and the family solve the problem of accessing the Internet, so that each and everyone will be able to be part of a community that is free to independently pursue their favorites, whether it be different ISPs or different Browsers, and web sites. The HUB hardware of Home Networking with its software, and multiple cables would allow each and everyone of you to work at your puters, even in different rooms of your home (with extension cords that would be removable, since they all plug into different sockets of the HUB) Once this equipment is installed, then I can address the question you asked concerning Mom being permitted to participate in the Puerto Rico.com forum. You understand, I'm sure, that I don't wish to put the cart before the horsepower. If all of you are community-minded, then I think the right to assembly and freedom of speech that we all have under the Bill of Rights ought to be implemented to its fullest extent.

Regards to You and the Family,
EddieR

Wink Eddie Mami no vive conmigo en Colorado

She lives in another state. She has her own computer and is much more proficient at all this than I am. I just never have mentioned this site to her before. Maybe I should. She is always busy (even though she is supposedly retired). She is interviewed by journalists, is a lecturer at universities (escpecially the New York ones and the D.C. ones) and is well-known and well-respected in her field of work.

She's in her sixties and if I told you about her life it would be a thick book. Your life sounds like a thick interesting book. You should write your memoirs Eddie. I would be your first customer.

I am going to look into this computer thing you mention. This internet world is fascinating (I always hated computers I love looking at people's faces and seeing them talk to me instead, or open a fresh new book and quietly read to my heart's content) to me that is heavenly. I also like to be active in causes that I care about. So much to do Eddie and so little time. I am glad it has been sooo slllowww at work today and I could take the time to talk.

Well okay then; she sounds very capable and intelligent. She ought to be at least given the option of visiting the site and sort of take a look around. I don't see anything that could be detrimental in doing that, so if you want to give her the URL of the site, why not?

I'm pretty certain that if she posts, she will get interested in replies, and she probably won't have anytime to be looking over anyone's shoulder, if you get what I mean. Both you and I could unobtrusively watch out for her, and if she gets "attacked" we could deflect that quickly and divert the attention of the poster away from her and toward ourselves. At least, she could regroup knowing that there are people willing to look out for her back.

BTW, I notice you have asked a series of questions to Raul, and he hasn't responded to you in a long while. Perhaps, he is aloof by nature. He is retired I think after over 20 years working for the IRS, so perhaps he is a bit jaded where social conventions are concerned. Who knows?
Take it easy, Suki and enjoy the site even tho you can't see faces of posters, you seem to be able to see their character quite well.

Suki, I did an enormous amount of reading in my time. But
I am not an avid reader anymore, and it is because I came to a moment in reflection that I had "done the reading".It is much same with formal schooling, I found it is best for professional students to realize that taking courses is excellent, but once one is say 40 years of age, it might be best to be out of the colleges. Like 40 and out! However, if one is an academic, and is in great demand as a lecturer, then that is okay.

Keep in touch Suki, and if you find out what is going on with Raul, who is posting but seems aloof, I would certainly appreciate knowing the facts.

C you later,
EddieR

Smile Raul is exploring his interests he doesn't have to respond Eddie that is OK

No se pero ya siento mucho afecto por ti. Voy a morirme leyendo y aprendiendo eso no ha cambiado desde que tenia 7 anos de edad. I haven't been back to the University since finishing advanced degree in 95. I have been working full time since then. IRS? the tax people? He's retired from the IRS? I was going to recommend him if he was single to a beautiful single friend of mine...but if he is older maybe it's best I don't stick my foot in my mouth.

How about you Eddie? What kind of people were your parents? Do you have children? Or grandchildren? Did you have a true love? Regrets? You seem to have had a lot of triumphs and I don't know how you would have survived all the crap the FBI put you through. Nosotros tuvimos unos cuantos lios con esos sucios as well (better not to deal with that). Mis padres no creen en la violencia pero no van a quedarse sin hablar, organizar y tratar de cambiar por medios DEMOCRATICOS cambiar los problemas que existen. If you are effective at that te fichan.

Are you suffering from Parkinson's Disease? Mi Papi murio de eso conjunto con diabetes. It was a difficult illness. I hope your nervous condition is not related to that. If it is take care of yourself and you need a lot of love and patient care. You need people who adore you and will make your life secure...it will give you encouragement and strength.

Do you know that song "Genesis"? Cuando nada queda en la tierra, la la la la, el amor, el amor para empezar.

I have great scientific interests but I balance those with a lot of emotional output and I have struck a balance and I have found my center. There is absolute acceptance and peace in the center of yourself. When I meditate there is a groove you reach in which all distraction falls away and you feel the expansion of tranquility encompass you. It is great. But to each their own path that is my motto in life. Things come at the time in which you are prepared to accept them.
Love y muchos besos en cada mejilla Eddie, Suki.
