About 6% of the population of Puerto Rico that wants independance from the USA, and out of that 6%, 4% doesn't know what to do and the other 2% is making a profit on a political system that they know will never exist. However, one has to come to realize that for any nation to function in a democratic society, where there are rights and freedom for all, you will have to step down and let the majority "RULE".
And for those that are still in denial, the Indians that use to live in PR are extinct. The Spaniards killed 98% of the Indians by disease or other means and the other 2% faded into a mixture of races. To prove my point, just get a picture of a real BORICUAN INDIAN from the history books and compare it to yourself, there should be no resemblence (Hair texture, face features, actual skin color, cultural habits to include tipical meals, customs , etc...), then get a picture of the Spaniards of the Canary islands in which most of the modern Puertoricans are descend from and you will see the descendant of a RAPIST, KILLER that you were speaking of, " YOU ". Everything that makes us who we are today as MODERN Puerto Ricans is a combination of European, "Spanish", black and lately American. Everything that we do and say is a mirror image of their own cultures, not the 2% of the population that descended from our ancestors that faded into history.
But life is Amazing, we complain that we get mistreated with prejudice from the "anglos" but at the same time we treat people that have are own blood from neighboring countries with the same prejudices.
One thing is true about all of this, our ancestors killed, raped and took the land from the Indians and that culture vanished, and now it is time for the old Spanish culture from Spain to disappear. Puerto Ricans are Americans in every way, until some other country takes the island from them. God bless the USA and God bless Puerto Rico.

From a different source female)

What gives you the right to be so ethnocintristcal to say that Puerto Ricans must remain "pure", the only thing pure about you is that you are purely ignorant! Tell me what country in the world has only its indiginous people living there? You won't find a single one! Well, maybe if you travel back to your home in MARS! You should get down on your knees and beg the Americans to take you as a state, do you know how many countries would kill to be in your position right now, every day people are knocking down the borders just begging to get in, and you are offered what every other country in the world cannot have and you complain about it? Reality check my dear! You will only know how lucky you are when the US changes its mind. Do you actually think that the US is going to beg you to become a state, do you think that they could careless, or that there economy would be effected in the slightest of ways? If you do, you are wrong. We don't need you for anything! So you had better take advantage of this oppurtunity while it lasts, before we change our minds, that is, if we haven't already!

I always tell people that PUERTO RICO is lucky because CUBA is a communist country,if CUBA would've been a democratic country .all the tourism and the bussiness would have been in CUBA.If CUBA(hoping to GOD) becomes free from CASTRO and the communist.all the bussiness may go over to CUBA.Then we will really be standing in a bad position. The AMERICAN company's could leave PUERTO RICO and go to CUBA where people are willing and able to work. think about that.then maybe the people would like the idea of becoming a state, but it may be to late. GOOD DAY TO ALL

OK, *****, the diference between me and you is that I fight for what I believe in. That's why I'm in the Army. And you just live in a world of make believe. If you're so hooked on being Indian, then why don't you live like an Indian? And give up all the modern immenities that I fought for you to have and go back to your tee-pee and live off the land, make your own clothes and grow your own food. One thing is for certain, you will decide that you are in fact NOT a TAINO. I really do know what an Indian looks like, because I've seen Indian in the Brasilian rain forest. And I would bet anything that not a single person in Puerto Rico looks or lives like that! So don't claim that you are an Indian when you don't even know what being an Indian is. You can read about Indians in your history book all day long, but that won't make you an Indian. The only way you will be an Indian is if you become an Indian, by living and thinking like they do. And since you will be the ONLY Indian in Puerto Rico, that will be hard to do!

Oh, by the way, you are just a mix between Spanish, Arab, and maybe Black. And you are probably confusing light brown skinned Arab features with Indian. If you aren't going to write things in which you would like other people to respond to, then don't write anything!

Sisters and Brothers,
Calm down. Let's not forget that there are some serious issues that will effect PR's future. Let us not split hairs (or beat each other up)about Tainos, Africans and Europeans. We should keep the focus on remembering this history and building a future on what we've learned about this history. Don't beat one another over the head with it. Move forward and keep researching so that when the time comes we all can add our input into what Puerto Rico's fate will be. Keep focused and keep the faith. lja

Hello my fellow country people. This discussion or debate should be taken as a lesson learned. This is a perfect example of why PUERTO RICO cannot make it on its own. Over the years I have learned that Puerto Ricans for the most part do not stick together, as other nationalities do. Don't get me wrong, there are a few out there that will extend their hand, but very few. Most of them are jealous of what others have and want to bring them down. Instead of making an effort to better themselves. An example is, during last year's hurricane that destroyed the island, OUR fellow PUERTO RICAN entrepenaurs were selling a bag of ice for $2 and $3. In a situation like that we should be helping each other and not trying to solely benefit. Those bags of ice should have been going for half price!!!
Get my drift you Native American. Puerto Rico would be or will be nothing without the United States. I am a PROUD PUERTO RICAN. Yes I was born there and I want what will be beneficial for OUR country in the long run. And with people with your mentality(Native American) and others who like to profit from disastrous situations, PUERTO RICO, OUR COUNTRY, will end up like Cuba, Mexico, or Domincan Republic. So give up all that Hoopla about MY country this, MY country that, Indian this and that and start thinking about the future of OUR country. The future of our country does not lie within the Indian culture. That was gone a long long time ago. Everything changes over time. That is what is called progress. Liberacion of Puerto Rico would NOT be progress. It would be a major step backwards. Our culture, language, or even traditions will not die unless they are not passed on to our children by none other than us. I think I have shared my two cents worth. Good day to all.

LOVE, PEACE, and SALSA
