Is P.R. really libre? I was there when they voted for state hood!!!!!!! I want what is truly best for my country. But the the politics is really bad. The people on both sides of the political realm don't really know what is going on. I prefer that they stay as they are, but are they really well off. What happens when the U.S. decides to cut off the majority of the aid to the people of the Islands? Then what? No work. Low income. The government ripping off the people in every county. Tolls booths that put the Island to shame. High unemployment!!
Is that real freedom. If that is real freedom, then I guess I will only be visiting instead of living there. I would welcome some replies.

I agree with Jvargas. Statehood equals taxes, Liberation equals total elimination of US funds in cluding welfarea nd anything else it has. I believe all that Independance would lead to would be Communism, and bye looking at Russia And Cuba communism is no good! People need there choices, not a government to choose for them. And for puerto rico to Be liberal would mean i wouldn't be able to have my children borm there because they wouldnt be Us citizens and would lose out on all the priveledges that has to offer. These are Just my opinios just like every one is entitled to their own.

PR is not as libre as we perceive.
We have a flag but is it a member of the nations of flags? ARE WE MEMBERS OF THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD? THE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION IS NO! WE ARE A MODERN COLONY OF THE US!
EVERY STATE OF THE US HAS IT'S OWN FLAG-BUT IT IS A STATE- WE ARE NOT A STATE!
ESTADO LIBRE ASOCIADO IS BULL****! I KNOW IT AND LET'S BE REAL-YOU KNOW IT TOO!
PRESENTLY THAT IS THE SITUATION AND BE THAT AS IT MAY, I, LIKE MANY OTHERS BEFORE AND AFTER ME, HAVE ACCEPTED IT.
DON'T YOU THINK IT IS TIME TO COME INTO OUR OWN? I MOST DEFINITELY DON'T HAVE ALL OR EVEN CLOSE TO ALL THE SOLUTIONS TO OUR SITUATION, BUT I DO KNOW THAT THE FIRST STEP IS THE UNIFICATION OF A DESIRED STATE OF EXISTENCE. PUERTO RICANS ON THE ISLAND AND MAINLAND USA NEED TO COME TO A REAL SOLUTION...OR BE ASSIMILATED LIKE SO MANY OTHERS BEFORE US!
THINK ABOUT THAT THE NEXT TIME YOU SAY-PUERTO RICO LIBRE, MY HERMANOS Y HERMANAS!
-------------
"PUERTO RICANS HAVE 2 FLAGS, 2 LANGUAGES, 2
PHILOSOPHIES OF LIFE, 2 COUNTRIES AND 2
LOYALTIES, HOW CAN A PEOPLE LIVE WITH SO
MUCH AMBIGUITY."
(TOVAR 258)
