You know. I guess I assumed too much when i thought that I could get you people to see things and understand a different point of view. You make me out to be a killing machine without feelings. This is not the case at all. I kill to not be killed. I fight for things that are worth fighting for. I have feelings just like the next guy, that is why I'm so passionate over what I do. I have a famuly as well. A beautiful wife and a loving son, and I think everyday where they would be if it wasn't for the US goverment. When I was down and needed help no one in PR gave me a hand but when I asked my uncle Sam he was there for me and my family. He didn't turn me away like my own people did.

The place that I live in is not trashed, not even with all the bombing because the goverment has rules and regulations to protect the enviroment. The same rules and regulations that they have in Vieques. Now you say that I'm brain washed and that you are glad to not have to walk in my shoes. You say that I only do what the commanders here tell me. You say that I need a lesson in life and that I need to read a book in common sense. Well, although I can't disclose details let me tell you this, I dont just have to listen to the commanders of this base. I am one of the commanders of this base. I don't need a lesson in common sense and I'm not the one that's programmed. On the other hand you respect the views of the other people in this forum because they are the same as yours and you are not capable of respecting people with diffrent views than yours. I don't need to open my eyes, maybe it's you who need to open his eyes and see what is really going on. It is difficult to know the truth. Maybe if you only knew what I know you would change your mind. I'm the way that I am not becaused someone brainwhashed me, I saw the truth behind this whole dilema all by my self.

Yes it does get lonely at night. It gets cold and I do go hungry. Most of all I miss my family. Somethimes I tell myself "I am an educated man< I have a master's degree, I don't need this". This is when a Korean communist comes aroud with nuclear weopons or a saddam comes around threatening the world with weapons of mass destruction. Then it's time to lace your boots again in the persuit of peace.

I don't like bloodshed, unfortunatetly these are things that hapend aroud the world everyday thanks to lunatics. We try to talk but sometimes force is the only way. Sad but it's life. Although it may not make any sense to you, we want peace and sometimes fighting is the only way to get it.
This is may job, for better or worse, I chose it,I took a commission (not an enlistment, I'm an officer) and I believe that I have the best job inthe world

Hey Jose, buddy..

No Jose, in the end we are listening to you. Yet we are only pointing out our views as well. This is a debate board man. As for you saying I am making you out to be a killing machine, re-read some of your own post, that is what you painted yourself out to be man. In the end I know you are a military man, and this is only your job at the end of the night, and like any job there is a sort of brotherhood that will not allow you to speak badly about your profession and I can understand that as well. I am happy you have a wife and a son, and I truly do hope you are a good husband and wife, and a good father.

I don’t know what sort of people you have asked. Yet there are church organizations in PR, and there are many other good people that will could have helped you, and do help others all the time. Yet there is a system and I do know how it is to get washed under the carpet and feel forgotten by your own countrymen. It does happen to the best of us. Yet like the great book speaks of, we must help ourselves in the end, first, if we are to achieve or garner any help from others.

As you saying I respect the views of others that share in my views, yes I do. Yet I respect yours just as much. I know you are on a different wave length and feel strongly against what I am saying, as I strongly am against your ideals. However, I am listening. I just feel that you are desensitized with the military system. Maybe one day when you are out of the system you may understand, or you may even feel more strongly about how you feel now. That is what makes humanity so wonderful. As individuals and intellectuals we can grow in areas we never deemed it possible. Yet we have to allow that to happen. In the end of the night we can’t fight change either, change is inevitable. If we fight change we die, that is simple survival 101. We may not like change, or how the course of actions are being made. Yet we can protest and see if we can make a change ourselves. Yet sometimes the rat is ten times bigger then you and me, and we truly don’t see the bigger picture in this whole global scheme.

As for opening my eyes. I am watching everything, and taking in everything. I see the picture in my own abstract way as you will see it your way. That is why, I said we are only seeing parts of the pictures. I know I am not one hundred percent correct. Yet I will state how I feel and how others feel for their homeland, their beautiful Puerto Rico.

Also I believe in preserving its natural wonder, and to make sure it is free of poison, you must admit that those bombs are dangerous, and it does hurt the enivorment, no matter what you say. Slowly and surely we as a human race are destroying this world. The most smartest of species turns out to be one of the most ignorant as well to its own surroundings.

War and bloodshed is something that has happen since the dawn of time, as depicted by the two biblical brothers Cain and Abel; ( The first war.)also, everyone has an opinion and it is their right to voice it. You may feel that you have been slandered, and maybe you were. Yet you are being listened too. Maybe not the way you like. Yet if no one was listening to your postings. No one would be replying to them. They’d be like, oh man look at this c### face trying to get some downtime. Lol

Anyway I hope to hear more from you.

~Jake

Joseito

Whether you are a commander or not...no importa. What I found quite key to your mentality is when you stated the Puerto Ricans turned their backs on you, and the Gringos fed you and gave you employment etc.

You are grateful and loyal to those who butter your bread. And that is very typical of pro-USA statehooder types. Who cares if your family is BORICUA 100% or not? The important thing is who is gonna help you reach your ambitions in life. The island is in bad shape for many reasons. All complex and also deeply embedded. Justifying polluting the island so you can feel good about serving the interests of those doing the polluting is very repulsive in my opinion.

Why don't the USA govt go and bomb Martha's Vineyard or Maui? Why Vieques? Could it be because my Aunt who got cancer while on Vieques directly due to the pollution from all those 'wonderfully controlled' bombs have anything to do with it?.....I think so, my aunt is a health nut and did not ever smoke or drink or have serious health problems until she did civil disobedience for long months on Vieques beaches. She and many others have 'abnormally high cancer rates' and birth defects, etc. Plus the Vieques fishermen can't make a living and all the 'good' tourist land...is going fast to USA snowbirds from up north and more monied people who can afford to not have income for months on end and play the waiting game to snatch lands in Vieques that used to be part of the traditional Vieques lifeways. There was a lagoon of such incredible beauty, with coral, fish and abundant plant and rare Caribbean turtles now it is radioactive, dry, pock-marked and dead and full of rusting shrapnel and waste......the land is bleeding Joseito...and the justification is......this land is expendable and so are the people who reside on it....a bunch of Spics, ignorant spics....who gives a damn if they all die from cancer....as long as they aren't from Martha's Vineyard or Maui....where 'real' Americans reside. And you are gonna give up your life for those people. Que -------. Fill in the blank.

YOU are proud of your job. Someone has to take care of the Hussein out of control nut in the desert. Right. Things do not happen out of blue with no context or history behind it all. That is not how the world works Mr. Joseito. 1991 was Operation Desert Storm. I thought this in 1991. If they USA government interferes like it has trying to control oil, and such....in a imperialistic way....all it is gonna do....is anger more those Muslim fundamentalist extremists...those peoples have had blood feuds going on for centuries...and they don't tolerate anybody going in to the sacred land of Mohammed with big, infidel destruction on the mind....and since they are fanatics....the infidels homeland becomes fair game for 'revenge'. I thought that in 1991....now 2003..and what happened...the 'revenge' factor of the loco extremists from the desert is realized....and all this agression is gonna stir up a hornet's nest like no one has seen in human history.....cuz the USA continues thinking the solution to all things....is might is right. If you get hit, hit them back ten times worse....what they fail to realize is that universal law dictates...what goes around comes around....whether now and the future....and there are many ways to do things and bombing the hell out of countries and piling up dead bodies...only creates more resentments, hatreds and deep seated retaliation...especially on the religiously closed and fanatical. BUT you are arrogant you will continue to believe in the natural superiority of USA technology. What you fail to realize is terrorism and guerrilla warfare are not about conventional warfare...and following rules....it is about uncertainty and shadows...where any one can be the victim and anyone the perpetrator...and as such....no one is safe. The only way to stop the violence is to not be violent and be constructive....toward everyone on Earth. Even the most fanatical and rabid. And in my opinion the most fanatical and rabid are not the exclusive people of the Middle East dictatorships...they also reside in the OVal office and in the First world. In their rabid arrogance and greed and need to control all world resources and power structures. AND YOU ARE an insignificant cog in its wheel. And Jacob is right....at the end of the night...after all the anxiety and fear, and loneliness sink in....you won't know what the hell you are spilling your guts for.....because you are not defending Puerto Rico or your beautiful wife and son...something significant...no, your true intuition is gonna tell you you are defending something you have no vested interest in.....oil, power, and geopolitical and economic control of some rich, white, corrupt men who manipulate and use government like johns in a brothel.

I hope you are safe and I hope all goes well for you. But I dont think your mission is good. It is detrimental and ineffective and destructive.

Suki.
