Again; you definetly don't understand Mc Donald franchises;and the real estate bussiness behind it.
I leave you with this, is not my intention to offend in any way, [because contrary to others in this forum, I think offending is the biggest obstacle of information.] study a little more about sociology and economics. Please!!!! see you bro.

You donnot offend me, you donnot mean much to me to do so. I love researching on sociology and economics. I am no expert, but I am not clueless either. If I donnot understand something, please, explain it to me. I am open to new ideas, but if I disagree I will let you know. What is it about the McDonald's franchise I donnot understand? Is McDonalds helping Puerto Rico's economy? If McDondalds is doing exactly so by paying property taxes in PR, again, to who's property? There are many foreign-based real estate agencies in PR as well....

We have something in common, we don't take things personal, that is great.
Franchises of course are business, and business have a legal structure.
Everything start with a corporation, a corporation unlike other people think, is not big buildings with a Microsoft like fame and image, a corporation is nothing more than a folder on a lawyers firm. It creates a virtual person that under the law, is a separate entity from the owners, there are different corporation type, but I am not going into that now. Once corporations get great success in business they can sell franchises/stock or both, which are bought by other business men, franchises are different because, it will cost to me like from 250,000 to 500,000 to buy a MC Donald in Oklahoma. Let suppose that other new businessmen spend 200,000 and want to open Peter's burger, the advantages that I have are massive, I have TV MC Donald propaganda which I don't have to pay for, an existing system and a reputation that the costumers know etc. By that alone I have 4 times the edge over the competition, which is more likely of Peter burger to be sunk. In Puerto Rico the owners of the majority of the franchises are Puerto Rican Businessmen, I know a couple of them, They have tough me a lot about the business world.
They pay fees to the MC Donald Corp of course. They keep the profit that is kept in the island, now Big corporation like ABBOT pharmaceuticals, they only contribute to the Employment area, which contribute to the income tax to the government, but those billions in profit are goooooneee my friend. Commerce is good, is this commonwealth that have us in this chaos and The maldita politiqueria.

See, I learned something new. However, I must ask, how do you know that the majority of franchises in Puerto Rico are Boricua owned? What are the statistics? Are you talking specifically the McDonald's franchise or all the foreign-owned and based food franchises? Why do you hate the commonwealth status?
