Star Spangled Banner en español !!!

Well thank you, thank you all who had something to do with this stupidity, you have scared the crap out of the Americanos!
Everywhere in the news you see pissed off Americanos who dont like to hear their national anthem in spanish, and I dont blame them I would not want to hear La Borinqueña in english.
But what this does do is that maybe it will be harder for a latin american nation to become a state of the union.

That's OK. Let them bury themselves in their stupidity! There is already a backlash revving up in this nation. Enough is enough. Also, it is sad that some Rican singers performed this crazy song. I'm ashamed of them.

Nope... just the music. The words are ours totally! And they are in ENGLISH, not SPANISH!

Statehooders beside themselves

This thing about the National anthem in Spanish has caught Puerto Rican statehooders off guard. It couldn't have come at a worse time

Statehooders have always tried to keep our "little secret," of being a Spanish speaking territory away from the national spot light. They've played up other things like Loyalty, a submissive character when asking favors of Congress, and an almost neurotic need to be accepted by our fellow citizens in Iowa or Nebraska.

Once in a while "la cagamos" with a Daddy yankee showing off his gold teeth and ghetto style, A Jeniffer Lopez acting like a sterotypical hot tamale or playing up "los beneficios de la estadidad" a.k.a welfare. All these things are generally kept away from most gringos, who are only interested in watching American Idol and Jerry Springler type shows on TV.

But this national athem thing "IN SPANISH" is scary

At a time when statehooders in Washngton are trying to get Congress to consider Statehood as an option, along come these Mexicans and Domninicans asking for equal rights and citizenship, with Spanish anthem and all!

All of this couldn't have come at a worse time. Why?

Gringos in general are up in arms about immigrants to begin with, now along comes a Spanish speaking territory, not only wanting equal rights but a state representation larger than 27 states! On top of that , we also want the 6 electoral votes which are enough to decide a presidential election!

Spanish is begining to come out of the closet as a threat to the linguistic unity of the nation. Statehooders know this and they are all scared as hell.

You have some good points. Ricans are digging their own hole. Yujike, Jane, and all the USA haters can then move back there when it is a third world country.

If hispanics want an anthem, they should do what the same thing the gringos did: steal it from the English. I don't know what the big deal is when more than 60% of americans DO NOT know the words to this anthem and very few can hit the original high notes in it. A captured lawyer penned the words when the English attack scared the hell out of him. The words in the song have changed many times during history for political reasons, clearly, never into another language. Anyway: no activity on May 1 2006!!!
