Puerto Rican Think 101

"Rican Think" in Puerto Rico is generally fueled by a practical
worldview. It generally goes like this:

1-We shouldn't rock the colonial boat.
2- Americans are fair and good, they would never do anything against
our wishes.
2-We should continue getting as much as we can out of the Gringo
system.
3-We should never be perceived as un-loyal, we should always give an
impression of gratefulness.

It's been our national philosophy since about the 1960's, why change
now?

Much of this thought process continues because many of us are still
stuck in the 70's. We see Puerto Rico as INDISPENSIBLE to the defense
of the United States. "Rican think" stresses the fact that the U.S will
keep us for eternity; and that the status solution is in our hands.
Most of us swear that our American citizenship is our best guarantee
against Gringo intentions to get rid of us. "Rican Think" rejects
the possibility that EMPIRES DO AS THEY WISH WITH NO ACCOUNTABILITY, at
least not the United states!

Although, most of our population flows within these "general think
lines", there are many who have begun to see the rise of the American
Empire as a threat to this way of thinking. Many in the PNP and PPD
have gotten nervous and want to push for Statehood or a flimsy autonomy
NOW, before the U.S. begins to concoct ways to get rid of us.

Most Puerto Ricans reject the idea that we've entered into new
paradigms since 1989. Para what?!!!!!! We don't even know what that
means! Many still believe that the fall of Communism hasn't made a
difference in the world; after all there is still Cuba and North Korea
to prove that a communism is alive and well.

However, September 11 and the explosion of American Nationalism has
turned our world upside down, made our situation WORSE within the U.S.
and it's world interests, But most don't realize it.

IS ALL LOST?

According to recent developments, the "Rican think machine" has
re-aligned and come up with another story to fit their needs, "there is
still hope," they say."

New ways of thinking, fueled by the "assimilated nuyoricanada" and the
conservative islanders invading Florida, is that the explosion of
Latinos entering the country will transform the nation. The sheer
numbers of this influx will fling Puerto Rico into Statehood. "We WILL
become the 51st state despite historical paradigms that show the
contrary."

Like the Estadistas Radicales of yesteryear, the new "Rican think
machine" sees power in numbers.

Statehooders think "We will transform the nation despite what the White
majority wants. Despite ruling the country since 1776, they say Whites
are doomed by this new wave of brown people who will overwhelm them and
make them into a minority in less than a generation. In fact it's
already happening in California.

However, little do they know that Whites have a couple of tricks up
their sleeves and it won't let a people identified with welfare and
illiteracy call the shots.

Just think? Blacks have been in the United States since 1619, and what
have they to show for it? They are the majority in Mississippi and also
in Louisiana, and so what! What has being a majority done for them? Has
anyone seen New Orleans lately? What makes us think that a majority of
Hispanics will fare any better?

What I think will happen is that Whites will begin dividing our
Hispanidad. It already is happening. How will they do it?

The trump card is, WHITE!

Like it did with immigrants in the past, the Whites opened up the
floodgates into whiteness for a vast majority of immigrants in the 19th
century. There was a time, believe it or not, that Irish, Italians and
Jews were considered non-white. By making them White, Whites expanded
their white numbers when they thought freed blacks would overtake them
after the Civil War. Those that could not make it, like the Native
Americans and those of questionable race traits, joined the marginal
Black class.

As some Hispanics become "White", they will begin dropping their
Spanish language, which is already being identified with poverty and
un-american. The holdouts, which might still consider themselves
Latino, will begin dropping folkloric displays like the Puerto Rican
Day parade and the ghetto styles picked up with the Blacks. Gradually
the more whiter among us will become what the kids of Cubans in Florida
have become, people like Cameron Diaz and Andy Garcia. UGH!

What about the darker ones?

Isn't it strange that Hispanics who are darker continue to speak
Spanish in greater numbers and identify heavily with Latino culture
than white Hispanics? They aren't fools; they know that these traits
are a way of disassociating themselves from Blacks, which have the
lowest social status in a racist society like the U.S.

Nonetheless a substantial number of lighter Latinos will stop
identifying themselves as Latinos and join the White identity, or the
hyphenated America, much like the Irish, Italians and Jews have done in
the past. Still don't believe me?

Check out David Roedigers book, " Working Towards Whiteness: How
immigrants became white, the strange journey from Ellis Island to the
suburbs."

What about the rest of us who are "dark?" Well, that's a hard one, but
not all is lost. Those who can't enter the "new white Latino class"
will, either join the small Black elite, who will then control those
below them or continue as Lumpen-proletarians / nuyoricans, left behind
to become part of those poor souls that we have seen in New Orleans,
powerless, poor and remaining in the ghetto since 1619.

But what about Statehood?

As Dominicans and now Haitians continue to wash up on Puerto Rican
shores, the island, which once was composed of about 70% white or a
"looks white" category, will take a turn towards full Black.

As the U.S. white power structure fights tooth and nail to remain a
White majority, Why would they decide to admit a Black state into the
union? Worst of all a state that will out strip 27 white states in
political power?

Many here will say that's BS. We are American citizens and as
such the U.S. is obligated to give us Statehood if we ask for it, even
if it goes against what a paranoid white ruling class wants!

Sorry Bros, that sounds cute but that's not how Real politicks works
and less so the politics of national interests in a race conscious
nation.

9-11 screwed up our world, this is not the 70's any more. Despite
that many here will get angry with this post, instead of personal
attacks and "Cafreías" just try to tackle the reality I'm describing, does it hold water or if not why? If you don't have any arguments that aren't Cafreías, then continue dancing and analyzing the merits of an "alcapurria de
carne and yucca" or how Communism is about to conquer the planet.

For the most part, I agree with your post. I do think, however, that besides the great threat of Islamofascism, the Marxist mind is very much alive.

It shows up in France, Germany, and Spain. It sides with Islamofascists much akin to the Spanish prime minister wearing the Palestinian garb and implying that Jews are bad and unwarranted in their self-defense. It shows up in the rockets fired at Israel that originally come from China... then Iran... then in the hands of Hezbollah... then firing hundreds at a time into Jewish cities. Russia, has Putin who sides with Iran on many thing and dislikes Israel.

The UN is full of Marxists and thugs that hate the USA. Kophni Annan calls terrorists, "alleged insurgents." Go figure this fruitcake.

Then you have crazies such as Chavez with oil money to fund and spread his revolution. He and bud Fidel have their eyes on PR. Of course, don't live the other clown from Bolivia out. Don't mistake that.

Independentista leaders, for years, have flown, lived, and trained in Cuba. Some became terrorists when the term was not yet used.

Then you have places like UPR infested with the rats of Marxism preying on the nubile minds of youth.

Throw in the Anti-American US media that continues to extoll Marxist values and wants to take the US into third world status.

Marxism is not dead. It holds hands with Islamofascists as they use each other to advance their own agendas.

Don't be naive.

Not that I agree with it, but Good Thread !!!

I don't like to be a leech. I like to be free to get my own stuff from whoever I want to, earn it, and do whatever I want with it. That is the negative of the Colonial issue.

We have freedom inside the egg shell.

I want Puerto Rico to break that shell.

Nacionalista,

The problem is that if you break that shell, you get fried and eaten!
