Misconceptions we all have

History is one of those things that we all dismiss as having nothing to do with what is happening now-a-days. Puerto Ricans, in general, not much different from any human group, are basically history illiterates. History, who cares! MTV and "La Commae" are more interesting.

Statehooders, in particular, are learning the hard way. As time moves on they've come to realize that things change, sometimes not for the better. Its inconcievable to many Puerto Ricans that the U.S. doesn't want us as a State. Its an idea that won't sink in. Not Americans they say, "they are good and fair." National Interests, what's that!

Nonetheless, unless historical forces do an about face, recent developments point to a disposition of the territory. Has anyone here have any doubts? If so. please say so without insults.

On another topic:

Israel and Jews is another misconception we have. If religious, one accepts Jews as God's Chosen People, and who can argue with religion? Nonetheless not everybody accepts this view, its out of their realm of reality.

The other day I was at a Jewish funeral and couldn't get over the amount of Jews who were white, so white that in Puerto Rico they would be called "Pote de leche." Most had blue eyes and were blond, a racial characteristic that is certainly not semitic.

Semites look like us, dark, thick lips, big eyes, basically like the Iraqis, Palestineans, Saudi's and Egyptians etc. But who are these overly white people who inhabit Israel? They don't look semite, who are they? Did they get white living in the cold winters of Poland and Russia? If it happened to them, maybe it'll happen to us.

For the confused there is another take.

The majority of the Israelis decend from the Askenazi branch of Jews. Different from the Sephardic branch who actually look semitic, these Ashkenazi's compose the majority of Jews in the world, in the U.S and Israel proper.

Their back ground is not ancient Judea nor did they cross the Red Sea with Moses. They are basically from a tribe that converted to Judaism in the 7 century A.D., about the time the Moors invaded Spain. The Jews of Israel are what are called the Khazar Jews, from the kingdom of Kazaria. Don't believe me, look it up on google. However don't discuss this with Jews, its a touchy subject, they will call you anti-semitic.

The converted Kazhar Jews were pushed west from the Caspian Sea by the hordes of barbarians sweeping in from Asia. They settled in Russia, Poland and eastern Europe. Their past history, all but forgotten and conveniently so. Its a group that re-made themselves and erased their past.

These are not the same as the Jews from Spain, who in the majority converted to Christianity before 1492. See "The Inquisition", written by Benjamin Nethanhau's father.

Are Askenazi Jews, JEWS? I think they are, after all, having been Jews since 7A.D, why not! Are the Askenazi the chosen people of the Bible? Well, that's a stretch.

Ironically, the Sephardim are the most discriminated Jews in Israel. They have the worst jobs and are looked down upon. Like always, the ones who have the least going for them look down upon those who are legit.

On another strange note:

A large portion of the present day Palestineans are decendents of Jews, those Jews who stayed in The Holy Land and never left. They were forced to convert to islam, and today have no recollection of their past.

DNA studies will eventually prove this point, a point Ashkenazi Jews refuse to accept, for obvious reasons.

Bottomline, we all live by lies devised by others and die for these lies and don't think much about them.
