Intellectual?

Do you consider yourself an itnellectual? Do you feel validated because you have a degree? What are the qualities of an intelledtual anyhow? Is it better sentence structure that I am dispaying lol?

In today's society we equate higher education with intelligence.Of course, this is a farce. Genetics tell us that our intelligence is determined when we are born. However, discipline is still required and the enviroment aoround you does have an influence. So being born intelligent is not going to cut it. I happen to believe that we have to "feed' our intelligence as well. Influence is good but the greatest thinkers in recorded history are those who went against the grain and logic of the times.

So RPR a combination of genetics and environment coupled with effort, discipline and will power eh? Lol.

And going against the grain. Well, I think most people are conventional. Such as the majority of people thinking the pro-independence people in Puerto Rico being so small in number just are 'incorrect' in thinking. Rarely do they reflect on the truths of history. In the American Revolution of the 18th century the 'rebels' of the American Revolution were also seen as traitors to the Crown and to duty God and Country and all that nonsense. Anyone who doesn't believe all the garbage that is fed to them since birth, and starts questioning the messages that are supposed to be the 'standard', yet aren't in reality the 'standard' at all, but a big ball of LIES of the first order----usually have intellectual curiosity. And that leads to not being a believer in a lot of crap that many believe as the Gospel Truth.

Examine these sentences---are they true? Or are they really open to debate? Most statements made as supposed fact are really open to questioning. Assuming something is inherently true and holds up under questioning is what part of the scientific method is all about. One can propose any theory at all. But does it hold up over time? Why are Plato's essays still relevant thousands of years after their initial publication? Because Plato's thoughts on many subject still are as true to today's realities as they were in Ancient Greek and Roman Society. And that is true for many (what are called universal truths).

Democracy is the best form of government structure. (Is this open for debate or not?)

Capitalism is the only form of economic structure that is the best for human society. (Is this open for debate or not?)

The problem is that many people have abandoned good debate in this world. They get passive feeds from TV, from Cable, radio and if they read something it usually is either some manual that is necessary or a self help Guru book that is rarely something that allows people to express themselves. People don't write very much about anything on a daily basis. Writing is an active activity, and it requires the writer to think, to organize their ideas, to analyze and to interact and to be engaged in thoughts. Engaged in thought processes are very different than passive receptivity. Passive receptivity is all about sitting back and letting others think for you and organize something for you. That is why many children that are in elementary school nowadays feel regular schoolwork that is active is boring. They are used to being 'entertained' professionally and having messages already thought out for them. They are mentally lazy and lose concentration easily. They are used to small little quick soundbite attention span situations---and instant gratifications. They are great techincians but lousy philosophers. And RPR being good philosophers (thinkers and creative talented active people) is what is the essence of living a great LIFE. The more aware you are and conscious of the decisions you make on a daily basis the more control you have in shaping your life the way you want it. The more you shape your life, the more you find meaning in it, the more you find meaning in it, the more you are willing to struggle. And struggle and improvement is what LIFE is all about. It is the essence of wisdom, learning and evolution on all fronts.

What is your opinion on it RPR?
