Speak English

For those of you who think that 'real' Americans don't see that we are similar to Costa Rica, Venezuela, Mexico in culture and are not the 'mainstream' Americans and it is obvious we are Latin American---please check out this video from Fox News in which John Rocker is interviewed.

YouTube - John Rocker "Speak English"

For Faraon and all the statehooders out there that live hating on anything not pro-statehood, please "SPEAK ENGLISH" and assimilate into that John Rocker paradigm. Kill everything Boricua about yourself and make the John Rockers happy. LOL. After all he was in Puerto Rico and tried to speak Spanish, he knew he had left the USA and that the Puerto Ricans weren't really defending "American" culture.

I don't consider John Rocker the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I do think he NOTICED while living in Puerto Rico that his 'American' culture was not the same as Puerto Rico's. It is sad that statehooders keep on trying to push their liberal leftist multiculturalism on the USA. They need to stop speaking Spanish and become just like John Rocker who is a fourth generation German extraction American who knows his baseball, his apple pie and Chevrolet culture is the best one on Earth. He knows America is the best country on Earth. Hands down---and he knows this is due to the immigrants that came here and voted with their feet and spoke English and became Americans. Everyone knows that by speaking English prosperity is guaranteed. Big prosperity. That Mexican Carlos Slim is a baseball fan and speaks broken English---sure he is a Mexican national and speaks Spanish and lives in Mexico and is currently raking in more money than Bill Gates and Warren Buffet---but everyone on Earth knows that in terms of tradition, architecture, food, history, music, sports and culture in general the United States is the nation with the best culture on Earth. Accept it. If you are Latin American your nation and language just doesn't cut it does it? John Rocker knows best----right? LOL

Ay que reirse de todo esto---de verdad!

Speak English!

[B]Suki

English is becoming the unifying link for ALL AMERICANS.

In face of a massive onslaught of Hispanic immigrants who "ARE PERCIEVED" that they don't want to learn English, Most Americans agree on one point, EVERYBODY MUST SPEAK ENGLISH!

What they fail to figure out is that immigrants , in general agree with them! Most Hispanic immigrants WANT ASSIMILATION, and want to fit in. They become staunch conservatives as soon as they get their Citizenship and SUV. In fact they out do conservative hyphenated Americans, like Sonambulo, in their zeal.

Speak English is not just the rally cry for for conservatives, its become the unifying slogan for all Americans, Hillary/Obama liberals and McCain/Hukabee Conservatives.

Where does a Spanish speaking state fit into all of this?

I DUNNO , ask Faraon

Miranda, a Spanish-speaking state doesn't fit in at all. That was my point.

I don't see Puerto Ricans giving up Spanish for English only on the island.

I think of my cousin. She is twenty seven years old. She is a good looking puertorriquena with long curly brown red hair, blue eyes, African features, white skin and a college degree from El Sagrado Corazon. She has studied English since kindergarten and has a father who lives in the states. She could move to the states at anytime. But she doesn't feel comfortable speaking English, has all her friends and family in Puerto Rico and found a job with Homeland Security on the island. She only likes brand name clothing, and yet her upper crust boyfriend left her recently due to her not coming from the 'best' family. He came from money and she did not. Even though she is educated, won beauty contests and is conventionally very attractive in every way.

The younger Puerto Ricans who are island raised don't really want to leave if they can find work on the island. If they can't find work. They leave. It is basically economic. It has very little to do with wanting to be culturally GRINGO. Many mainland Americans are so ethnocentric and just plain tunnel visioned that they don't get that Miranda. I don't know why.

The truth is economic. Period. Puerto Ricans want statehood for the dollar signs. And in today's xenophobic USA that doesn't cut it. Puerto Ricans are going to have to want to speak English and be like the Iowans and so on. CULTURALLY. Something they can't do because the IOWANS and the ENGLISH ONLY SPEAKERS are going to have to be at least 45% of the Puerto Rican residents to make some kind of an impact. Otherwise. No cigar. If 90% of the island continues to prefer Spanish over English the possibility of assimilation will be slow or negligable at best.

So, what are you talking about? LOL

Nacemos asi y listo.
